RFID implants are nothing new, though. What have you heard about them so far? Did one of your friends do it to herself/himself?

very against it ... It would be the same as putting a barcode tattoo on your arm ...

Its just simply an extremely bad idea, there wouldn't be any added security in putting any financial data in your arm since its readable about 40' away ... If everyone used the tag, I could steal information simply by rigging an RFID reader that fits in a backpack or under the clothes and just walk by someone ... you would collect 100's of IDs just casually walking around on your daily stroll ...

As for putting personal information (name, age, driver's liscense, whatever) I just don't see how that would be beneficial to people in the long run

If that chip were made standard, and I were a business, I'd make a reader that tracks if you ever went in my store as well as what products you bought ... then I'd turn around and develop a network to trade information with others for targeted marketing purposes ...

They're just too easy to read for them to have a mainstream security purpose ...

My university has already implemented the use of special cards that contain RFID chips so that they can restrict access to the labs on campus ... however, ive learned that you can get into most doors simply by knocking (which is good considering I broke my card 2 years ago and haven't got around to paying the $30 fine to replace it) :P ...

I've already toyed with making an active long range RFID transmitter, swiping data from 100's students/profs and then "bomb" all the doors within a huge radius every few seconds with the data so they are constantly unlocked ... but I figure that would get me expelled ... maybe after I get my degree ... LOL

I wonder how fast they could find the transmitter though (I bet they have a tracker somewhere that would find it) :P

Yeah, hacking would be an issue for them. ;-p

But as you said, they have trackers somewhere, and what they would need to enslave people globally, is either a lot of trackers (mass production) or just advanced ones (extremely long range and performance).

Personally I think that these implants will be a common thing by 2040. = /
Also it could depend on the currency. If dollar plunge down the next year (i.e. 2011), it could result in the world having a new currency - and then "more invisible" money, since RFID chips could be used not only for identification, but also as some sort of a credit card.

But then it would mean that one's money is truly intangible - you can't touch it, and if you can't, you don't really have it. (Always good to remember about inflation.)

^- here's info about how "easy" is to take out such a thing. Nasty stuff. 'd be nice to have a surgeon in the family.

I stand firmly opposed to RFID " implants ", but the technology does have many practical applications.

I skimmed till I got to your bullshit 666 image, then you lost me completely. Premillennialism fail. Plausibility fail.

That said, they do make Wal-Mart run quite well.

Haha, you know Greek, don't you? If you don't, well, you're bullshit to me, because current wars and other nasty stuff ongoing in the world is mostly because ignorants like you.
Sorry for harsh words, but "cash" and materiality won't help anybody. And I'm pissed of because of some people from 'rich' countries, who don't give a damn about anybody, the less about foreign and ancient cultures and hints.

And talk to experienced exorcists and even have a trip with them if you can, you'll see the world differently.

jjawinte, me too, its practical funtions can't be denied, but then you think about hacking, more control of ppl by gov't (if they haven't too much of it already), and that awful visible mark on the skin. There are more disadvantages, quite frankly.
