Not bad for a first person model. Finger length is a bit on the odd side unless it's supposed to be cartoon style ( as it looks to me right now ). Smoothing is getting the upper hand on you... but it does on anybody. Rigging itself is not difficult. Create first an Armature object which comes with a default bone. To add bones either duplicate one or select the end point of one and extrude ( E-Key ). Use the mesh panel to name the bones properly. Now comes a shortcut. Parent the mesh to armature and select from the menu to create named groups. Now in the Modifiers panel turn the armature into a real one. You've got now Vertex Groups named according to the bones. Rule is simple: bones affect vertex groups of the same name. Now put the armature into pose mode and then put the mesh into Weight Paint mode. Now you can select a bone and paint the vertices ( blue => no effect, red => full effect ). Fiddle around a bit with this system and moving bones around to see how your rigging works. You can reset the posing with ALT-R ( reset rotation ), ALT-G ( reset translation) and ALT-S ( reset scaling ). Hope this helps to get you started. |

That looks pretty nice. Have you done some hard-surface modelling as well? Or just organic, like these two models? |

Can i ask you guys a question, does it matter on what program you use for modelling? I have used pro desktop (at school) and made an aeroplane but would that still be considered as a model. I am looking to get in to modelling, mapping, and maybe programming. So, i might start using blender as well. Good work by the way- improved shoes on the second model . |

very nice! Better then my first model! program for modeling doesn't matter, but blender is the best free one out there, it can compete with most of the pay programs. Also via plugings/scripts it can work with almost any game. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |
