Chop off the hard edges, try using blender not sketchup and keep hard at it, use reference pictures as much as possible.

ok thanx a lot guys! i tried out for a game in the making called call of quake but they said i wasnt good enough.

im just wondering how to round off the straight edges like that. what i mostly do is make a base with lines and connect them to get a face. so that means its hollow, and if i cut off part it will show the inside. got any ideas? also ill be posting my shotgun soon

not bad. But from my current experience, making the model is easy, making them work in AND look good in game is the really tough part. :)

psp is a portable and require special development kit, I actually dont know much about model > psp but I am sure sketupup arent meant for modeling for games.

I respectfully disagree. Being a compiler, I find it one of the easiest of things to do. Implementing a model into a game is piss easy with the right programs.

you are getting better with the program already, the shotgun is less bulky and blocky.

try blender. you'll be able to do much more when you learn.

Well, that's like saying making a game is easy with the right programs. But how would his models look from the player POV, and how would they look from other players on his character? (rhetorical).

Nice, you'll probably find it easier using more advanced programs to be honest such as blender and 3ds max if you scoop out 3K :P id reccomend using blender, its a free and really nice program.

For at starter I suppose its good, but not something I recommend you to use!

May 11 2009 Anchor

take the time to learn blender or or use the xsi modtool (both are free), sketch-up is not an ideal program for this kind of modeling

check my profile, for what blender can do, that's after a few months of experience

try to Learning to use 3D Max Studio , when you start with it its hard but with the time you will be making great models !

good luck ;)

You really need to just pick a program, any program, and go at it until you learn it. If you jump ship everytime a program appears complicated, you're never going to learn. Pick a program, find the community for it, and ask the questions you need to ask. Then every day the program becomes less and less complicated, and you gain the basic knowledge that you can apply to any other program (the common tools, edgeflow, etc).
