Moddb v4 suggestion and wishes Thread

I'm making this thread so we can post what we thing should be in the v4 of this site to im doing it now so they have time to look at the suggestions and please do not flame if it not a suggestion or somthing you like to see in future version of this site please don't post it

One thing i think shold be add is for mod s to be able to embed a video on there profile home page make it simpler

A better Totural system maybe combine it for addon site and moddb site

Good thread, I will actually be opening up some official discussion about this on ModDB.com soon. So yes v4 is in development, the reason why nothing has been posted yet is because it is still a loooong way off so we don't want to hype it up too much too early. We are taking all the time we need to make it as good as we can. Of course our community is the most important thing, so we want to hear what you guys want - so please post suggestions in here otherwise wait for the official announcement in a few weeks.

To answer your questions, mod / game profiles now have a video gallery, the tutorial system is enhanced and addondb + moddb will be merged - so it looks like we have those bases covered.

Just as v.2 comes before v.3, v.4 must come after v.3 (you'd think anyway...)

Excellent news anyway, I'll have a ponder about suggestions but for now the only obvious thing is the blog feature which was discussed and someone mentioned was being considered for v.4. Include that and I shall be a happy modder

Had to close it due to lack of business.

not to remove ads entirely, but how about some that we might actually click?

Some more adds aimed at computer parts and prices would be nice
a breif description of the mod on the mod listings screen would be nice when searching for that random mod on a boring saturday night

Where have you been? He asked about one that sells shirts and hats, not one that sells digital download games.

But the topic of putting that type of material up for sale was already brought up when the thread about what to sell in the store itself was created.

like theres a image tab in your mod profile but add a video tab for short videos. that would be cool.

A double posting anti-feature, so malicious posters can't, and forgetful posters won't.

Also, a more featured mod page, and easier search engine.

i dont know, maybe a blog feature, kinda pointless but yeah it could work

Auto-merging multi-posts is an option.

And of course my personal irk, non-authorised mods having their stuff appear in the help-wanted, and no patrolling of said HW.

I made a post on the separate Staff forums about that feature, ambershee, so you got the right idea. Here is what I said near verbatim:

" I truly support the merging of posts when someone wants to bump their thread.. It's a great way to avoid double posting, and most of the time, it's just a continuance of the former discussion they had in their last post, but just forgot to add that on. That way, if they miss that Modify button, hey, no big deal, once your posts merge you can edit that one. It's perfect. I am part of a forum that does that, and it really does reduce the clutter while also avoiding screams of, "HEY, NO DOUBLE/TRIPLE/QUADRUPLE POSTING!" lol "

but i give this feature two thumbs up.

and to add onto something similar, how about "post last modified" doesn't appear when editing until you edit after a certain time has passed.

For instance, i make a post and misspell something and have to modify it, i instantly lose a little credit for having the "post edited" message appear. But if you were to not add that unless someone was to edit after maybe.. 5 minutes.. it'd still be slightly useful

well...hype is sometimes good for makin somethin known...i dont think many here at the community know that you guys (the admin and such) are building a v4...they thnk that this site will stay v3 forever and ever and ever
