I wonder what his definition of "cheap" is. Because if he wants a commercial license that's $749. Not much if your confident about your project I guess. --

Well, Torque can be in expensive. but its expensive... but i'd tell him to go with torque as well. -- Grenades... are your friends. |

That's pretty cheap. The indie developer license is $100, and can be upgraded to commercial at any time. |

Myles: will do , and I tried FPS creator, but I thought it had too little features. Bugsport: yeah, it's a pretty decent engine, but it has no support for Multiplayer, so I am not going to use that one Robert-33: Yeah, I know it's open-sourced, but it I would need a custom license to be able to sell it... AFAIK anyways.. Metulah: Maybe later, going for Irrlicht, atleast for now |

Because my opinion for my own experiences is more valid than anyone else's. Also because I've worked with a couple open source engines now, and have been doing so for some time now. I should be able to share anything I have to say just as much as anyone else. Edited by: ChrisPage |

no, but releasing products and being able to intelligently discuss them without tossing out a name i heard from somewhere else is. I think its kind of sad for someone to down me because i really enjoy a specific engine. as if my works are any less important than anyone else's. More so my works are released. I'm not special, but I'm not going to pretend like I know nothing to appease those who don't know as much. |

And I think that its kind of sad that you down everyone else for not enjoying the same engine as you. See conversation where you slammed practically every Source mod in existence. |

I've developed with Darkplaces since 2001 and I wouldn't even call it a swiss army knife for everything nor recommend it like it's the dominating one over everything just because it has that "next gen per pixel lighting" feature wrapped upon 1996-era physics and such. my point is, darkplaces isn't the best damn engine ever. period. So stop being high and mighty over it like your only knowledge with it matters over other's suggestions. Edited by (in order): leilei, leilei, leilei, leilei -- < insert subject games here >

You barely developed anything on darkplaces, and I haven't even mentioned what DP can do, nor have I even mentioned to use DP here. So you're basically just talking out of your ass. And last I checked, I didn't pretend to be high and mighty. I just know of what it can do more so than most people here since I've worked on it so long. I can share my opinion plenty, and if my credentials are stifling enough to make you feel inadequate and think that I'm elitist thats your problem. I've worked with the engine extensively and know what I'm talking about. Deal with it.
I never said everyone else should enjoy the same engine as me, so stop putting words in my mouth. And you don't even know what you're talking about, you don't know how much Kasplatt has worked with DP and you especially don't know the comparison of source mods to other mods since you're blinded by using it. I've at least taken the time to experience both, not just hop on as a "coder" for a source game that isn't even released yet. You don't know this but Kasplatt idles my irc chan plenty and doesn't ask for the appropriate help, he wants to basically remake company of heroes and "implement physics engines" into irchlict at the moment. He doesn't know what he's talking about and I've tried to help but he doesn't seem to even care about logic in using these things. You're essentially assuming you know what you're talking about, want to talk about high and mighty? How bout bashing my choice in an engine thats won me several awards including 500 bucks. As said this doesn't make me better, just better informed. Stop confusing the two. I like dp because its easy to use for me, so i like to help others in using something im familiar with. if you are going to be a dick about it at least acknowledge you are instead of playing it off like its me doing so. |
