Inability to add a new reply, when I'm the last poster. | Locked | |

So, I have a thread where I post bug reports into on a game's forum. The developer doesn't always have to reply to these reports, but I know they see them because it shows a new post being in that thread to them. Here's the problem. I post a bug report 2 days ago, now I post a new one today - and it just gets edited into my older post. There's no indication a new bug report has been added to the thread because it's treated as an edit. Please remove the 'multiple posts = edits' thing, it's entirely unnecessary. |

Pretty sure double-posting is almost universally hated. |

Double posting within the last thirty minutes of your last post is hated. Adding a new bug report to a topic a while after your last report, only to have it edited into your older post, is a guarantee that the new bug report doesn't get seen until someone else posts in the topic. So it seems like the only alternative I have is just to make a new thread for every single bug report, which I can guarantee you is more annoying than seeing two posts in a row. |

Thanks for your feedback. I'll pass it on to our developers to see if we can tweak this. -- Greg |

In the Secrets of Grindea beta forum, I've had to resort to making a new thread for every single new batch of bugs I find. The developer posted a reply to one of them, then tried to add a reply with a bugfix later on. I didn't see it for a week because it got edited into his old post and I had no reason to revisit the topic. He now just PMs me directly with bugfixes. This isn't how this forum should work. It's ridiculous. |

I've noticed the same thing, and like you're saying ,it doesn't tell people there's a new thread posting when it automatically appends to the previous post, so threads can look dead when they're not. On other forums I hate making three or four posts of just me for an update though. Would be great if the post modification time/date was updated & people who watch the thread get an updated thread notice. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

Totally agreeing with TheHappyFriar on this one, thou. Best if the thread was simply marked unread after either the first (OP's) or the last post is edited. |
