With no appreciable abilities whatsoever, why do you think anyone would have the vaguest interest in joining your team? |

storyboarding is a good skill, any sample of storyboards you made in the past? I am doing a 2 minutes and 30 sec cutscene for my game and its is around 50 pages and roughly 3 panels on each page. Edited by: shadowofamn |

the reason im asking so i can have a partner the run the game development part I'm not good with that stuff so I will help if you are not interested in joining go away not to be rude the site is new i have a site designer getting it ready hopefully it will be up soon! I believe there are better people out there that can make a horror game I have another storyboard team member that is really good I've read his stuff!!!!!! I want to get this going as fast as I can I cant do everything Im trying to recruit team members and review games and getting the site up I have story boarded before but the developers didnt use it yet but they liked they was working on another project. I have a few ideas for the game but I don't want to get deep into it if i cant find a team. I want someone that can use unreal but you are interested and know how to use another engine that will be fine. don't worry I don't care what people think I will do things the way I want to |

Not to be rude but with that attitude you get nowhere. People are not game-maker-slaves... and especially they don't like a leader treating them like that :/ |

if someone is interested they can do it with me doing what i can to make it easier i would love for someone to come and join when they go and say that the company i have is not one well it is just because the site is being built doesnt mean i cant get started working and just because i dont have good experience with developing games doesn't mean i cant' ask others to help i will do what i can to help plus i'm giving the developer co ownership so he/she can get more team members to help or so on i can be nice and i am reasonable but i'm not going to deal with anybody that is not interested and wants to post that my company is not a company im sorry if i offended you or anybody else i should have handled it better but i want to get started as soon as i can it does take time to develop a game |

So you are abandon a site that have potential resources because some of us are critiquing the way you act? From your original post, your first sentence is not even a complete sentence, you have no story, and you don't use period or commas and the last sentence is confusing. Your sentence: I have no story to it yet but I will if you know how to use unreal engine please reply The first impression that you gave out is horrific, and anyone that is willing to join you base on the information you provide is retarded. These people are just trying to give you constructive criticism. Yeah, some of the things they are saying are a bit harsh, but that's because mod and game development is not something anyone can do whenever they want. These people have built and released mods or games, and they know how much hell it can be. It can take months just to write up a design document, and even then you still have to be building a part of the game/mod before most people would even consider joining you. Most of the time, saying you are a writer or design just won't cut it. Generally people want to see coding, models, or maps to convince them to join. Also, when you write hastily and without any sort of punctuation, people get the feeling that it's a small child writing it, and most people won't take it seriously. If you are serious into creating your game, make sure people can read it without having to guess where a sentence should end and another begins. Again, these people are only trying to help you out. They know the steps to get their product out, and the only way to get your game out is if you listen to these people. If you don't, your game isn't going anywhere. So please, please come back when you have your design document written up and some assets(maps, models, coding) to present. We'll be waiting. |

I think that you are offering very little, and expecting an awful lot, Bluefire is right, we are trying to help you out, have you ever stopped to think that we may of been in your position once?? Basically, you are asking for someone to make a game using your story? People are willing to join a 'team' if the story is good, but your not even giving them an idea of what its about, and then on top of that, your expecting them to be doing it all anyway? let me give you a few tips, firstly, doing a storyboard is not (on its own) something that is going to get people to join your team, i do the storyboards for my team, as well as mapping, 2d Art, run the website, and manage the team... secondly, the Games industry is larger than the Movie industry, and if your not prepared to take criticism, then forget it. Thirdly, threatening to never viist this site again? come on fella, with your attitude the way it is, do you really think people will care. Do your self a couple of favours. 1) Come up with a plan Good luck. Rant over. --

I have to agree with the others, you have set a poor example of yourself and not really convinced anyone that your game is even worth flickering a eye over. I wish you the best of luck with sorting your self out and maybe if that happens you will find your dream team but as pretty much one of the best sites on the web to find a team I seriously doubt that you will do so. -- Thom Maggs aka Dreads |

That was really rude and unnecessary... By the way, you talk about how you agree with the us others now, but in the last thread like this you talked about how we were all being mean to the original poster (Even though both these threads were very similar and we weren't). I mean you are pretty much contradicting yourself, but whatever.. |

He's looked into the screaming pit of madness that is games development, and now understands what demented and unnatural things lurk there. He's one of us now -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

ok lets start over they day i posted i was in a bad day the game story: John Micheal (main player) is a mercenary in the year 3000 that has a job to go down in this underground base to find out why the power keeps going out and gets trapped because of a cave in and has to face the dark while trying to get out and finds out that in 2030 a sickness came out and diseased thousands of people! Then he found out that the base he is trapped in was made to keep them in! so while trying to get out he has to face them! I hope you guys like it its just a sample. |

Are you serious TheDespencer? |

May 21 2010 Anchor | ||
is it the mercenary thing I get confused I thought about putting engineer but the idea was taken a better idea john Micheal a soldier and Jerry Scott a engineer they both go down to fix a power surge that has been tearing up the power of the upper city. To get the the underground base they had to go through a cave they made 20 years ago when they pass the cave they hear a rumble in the ground they were caved in and the room became pitch black they pull out the flash lights they packed for the trip.They start for the power supply in the base when they hear a strange noise the engineer read up on a sickness came and diseased thousands of people and as they pointed their flash lights toward the sound they heard they got a glimpse of a weird shaped human as it ran out of sight they tried to contact their captain they lost the communication. so through the game they are trying to survive, get out, and fighting the diseased |

That's definitely a game story. Hundreds of great games have been based on a story like that, but hundreds of crap games have been based on a story like that too. Got any idea what you can do to steer this towards being good? -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

yeah it can be a puzzle to escape rooms filled with the diseased A story of the sickness hey have 10 years from when you start off a disease spreads and distorts people's minds.Their skin becomes rotten and bones stick out and that's how they fight you. After a year of the clean people living with the diseased and trying to stay clean the government finally built a underground base to lock them up forever. That's the story, and also they built the cities power surge outside the base guarded with an electric fence. When the government told they told them to go down to fix it, they government tried to keep the story hidden. So when the cave in happened they went through the black doors in the base. I'm on your guys side if you want to help thats great I will help you the best I can but I do not want to wast time. I'm sorry for any offense I posted earlier I hope that if somebody is interested please ignore what I posted earlier I know your just trying to point me in the right direction and thanks for that. I realize if I want anybody to help I first have to listen to what got to say. I know I'm making this into a big sob story lol. |
