No Space Nazi theme. :*(
Great news! Good luck to all participants!
Aaaaw... really looking forward to it, but since i need to get a new tablet to have a chance (old tablet broken) in the competition, I'm not sure if another wacom wouldn't really be worth it I think.. guess I'll have to wait and see until the prizes are decided.
Holes in the rules, they need tightening, for example midnight, 31st of October, in which timezone.. ;)
How interesting...
I'm looking forward to this :)
I hope students of AI can enter...if not then I'm freakin' screwed
Looks like I'm gonna get a hell lot of wallpapers.
I'm hoping for a lot of sweet wallpapers too. game concept art generally rocks - and i'm sure we will get some awesome entries
Definitely not...so rock on! WOOT
Thanks!
Beefynerd the results are voted by site users and an AIO judging panel - so unless you are on the AIO judging panel you are eligible to enter.
Can you combine themes? Such as: The Noir Warlord ect.
thats awsome that's a nice pic dude :D
I don't get something... is a 2D competicion, 3D or both?
*competition
^ Concept art is 2d based bro, therefore it is a 2d art competition, its purpose in the gaming industry is to provide a good reference for the modelers to work upon.
i'd have thought you could do both, not all concept art is 2d in the industry, come conceptors build 3d concepts before teh final things mideled, plus you could always mix 2d and 3d? Thats the ipression i got from the rules anyway, but i might be wrong :)
**some
Some rarer companies will actually sculpt concepts, rather than paint them too ;)
Competition updated and prizes announced. We are now giving away two Alienware Area-51® 7500 MSR
The aliens heard my calling. Not even laziness can stop me now!
Concerning the last submission date.. In submissions, it sais "20th Nov 2007 Submission of artwork closes" but in the rules it sais "Submission window will close midnight 31st October 2007 GMT".
Im guessing it's the 20th Nov, because it sais so in more than one place, but I just thought you should know :)
They probably forgot to update it.
dammit...now i wish i could draw, i need a new computer badly... :(
Very nice prizes
There was a question that wasnt answered by an officail. Does the entry have to be 2D? can it be a 3D scene? and can it mix both? It doesnt say in the rules? Please let me know!!
am i aloud to enter, I live in australia & most of these comps are american only, i didint see any info in the terms so yeah.
Cheers,
It is a concept art competition. A 3D render is done purely using tools and therefore not something we consider to be concept art. And lovoboy17 you are allowed to enter. Prize delivery has been an issue in the past so should a non-american individual win, we will do our best to arrange that with you.
ULTIMATE i also lost my wacom pen...but im still competing just make do with a mouse its not that much of a change if i was to accept excuses like well i cant because my tablets broken then i would never be good at what i do
True, a mouse is not to be underestimated, but a pen tablet is by far more comfortable, and easier to draw with. Anyways, lucky me, I bought a Wacom Intuos3 A5 just today, and it's definately something to recommend. :D
first the date has been extended by 20 days... and now it no longer has to be originally created for this contest and can be anything as long as it adheres to one of the seven topics?...
woot for cramming in to create something that didn't need to be created for the contest \o/
What? No protection of privacy?
By entering the sweepstakes, entrants and prize winners grant Sponsors permission to use his or her name, address, email address, photograph and likeness, voice and entry for advertising, publicity or other purposes without additional consent or compensation except where prohibited by law.
What? No protection of privacy?
I can understand the name, photograph and entry parts, but the other parts seems like a bit much.
(sorry for double post, no edit button here.)
Sound like fun, i'm in!!:) I was about to ask the same question as loveboy17, cause i live in South Africa, but it was answered and YAY i can enter!!
Am i being stupid and missing a rule? LOLi couldn't find anything saying if you can enter from the UK? Am i allowed to enter ? Thanks :)
Bunnyjen, read INtense!'s last post: "Prize delivery has been an issue in the past so should a non-american individual win, we will do our best to arrange that with you."
ahh yeah there it is lol thanks a lot :)
geez... all these guys outclass me in skill, not to mention the fact I have no scanner, a graphire tablet, and a ****** laptop.
I'll enjoy voting, however. No matter how unskilled I feel doing so...
concept art isn't just about how well drawn it is, its about the idea you should have a go :)
hi. pardon my ignorance... what exactly does "Noir" mean in this case?
female killers? detectives?
I think all themes are open for interpretation. Also, I think "noir" means "night" or "dark".
thanks!
Everyones work is looking awesome, I'm really tempted to enter...but iono.. time : work ratio is not looking good, regret ratio is not looking good either lol. Arghhhh!
There are some awesome pieces being made here. I sent mine a couple of days ago - I hope they got it..
Good luck to everyone involved :)
just wondering... is the due date 00:00 Nov. 20th or is it 24:00 Nov. 20th? thanks.
wasn't 21th today?
Thats what I thought... Just waiting to see whats happenin now :p
where do we begin voting??
So.. its the 23rd. I still dont see any Showcase of the submissions. Is the whole thing delayed?
it would be nice to get an update on this...
I would also like to know by who some of these are made, like the chemical man series, and the Warlord series, or at least i think those are series, either way, having like a name or something to just maybe see would be nice.
Urgh, sorry dude, accidental reply to your post.
