The popular MODs... Enhanced Shaders, T.H.A.P. Rework 2.0, Boomsticks and Sharpsticks, etc. And my own ReShade configuration of BloomingHDR and AmbientLight.

Can you provide your settings for your own reshade customization.

I have installed this using Mod Organizer 2 but see no difference. I don't see any additional options in the Advanced Visual settings for the SSDO options. Do I need to have Reshade installed? I currently do not use Reshade.

I also notice your folder is r3 but I'm using DirectX 11, which is r4. Do I need to change anything?

DX11 uses files from R3 folder.

You don't need Reshade to use the mod. Just be sure to clear your shader cache in your first run after the installation. If you don't see any change, check with a screenshot, in some conditions the AO is not very noticeable. The same for the contact shadows, the shadows are less visible depending on the climatic conditions and if the sun/moon reach you.

Are you using Reshade in order to make it work?

No, just game shaders... The screenshots only have a ReShade Color grading post process.

Pastebin.com

copy the code from here, and paste it in accum_sun_near.ps file.
dx10/11 only.

that accum file is in gamedata\shaders\r3

Any Advice on how we install Enhanced Shaders before SSS?

Just follow the installation guide on the description.

If you're using ES -> ES and SSS.
If you're using ES and Beef's NVGs -> ES, Beef's NVGs and SSS.

Looks amazing. It would also be cool if shadows would appear from the lamps. In some basements or laboratories, it would look very atmospheric.

Is possible, but the effect is expensive and per-light basis. I will test how bad is the performance... Maybe an optional mod for the enthusiasts.

I did a very simple implementation on point lights, I would say the performance is acceptable with reduced ray steps and range... Maybe consider enabling this in the next update?
Anyway, keep on the good work!

Hey, thx for this great mod, now I can disable two reshade fx that are heavily loaded. btw, is there any console command that I can tweak in game, not just editing the screenspaceshadows.h file?

The only option right now is editing the files... Maybe if enough people is interested in the mod I can made some improvements. I'm just sharing what I use in my playthrough to improve the visuals. I was bored of the AO from Reshade over my UI.

I am using MXAO in my reshader list, I feel like I still need to turn the MXAO on. There is still a distinct difference between the MXAO on and off while using your mod at the same time. I'm curious what AO fx you use in your reshader?

MXAO is a different AO technique, I personally don't like the result of it. My preferences with Reshade are GloomAO or PPFX SSDO.

My primary goal with the code and configurations is a "detailed" AO for the weapons.

For some reason, and this may just be vanilla anomaly, but turning on SSAO just tanks my FPS. I've got a 3080TI and I go from average 120 FPS to 49 FPS... I did the optimization tips and tricks in the Anomaly Discord.

Try changing the SSAO quality option to Low or Medium... I'm using a 1060 at 1080p without problems ( 60 ~ 70 FPS).

i have no idea how this is supposed to install, i moved the gamedata to my pre existing gamedata and nothings changed

Just copy the files to your gamedata and clear your shader cache in the first run. Remember to activate the SSDO AO option in the game menu and set the SSAO quality to Low/Medium/High.

The AO was 'pretty' bad (or 'old') on xray and Reshade AOs breaks totally UI and scopes. So nice!!!

Screenspace shadow doesn't work even using LVutner's accum_sun_near.ps fix, I'm using shader based 2d scope add-on and not using BaS, could that be the problem?

Hi, Lvutner above gave a link to a patch for enhanced shaders, it requires an update, will you look at this?
I'm playing with enhanced shaders and glossy ssr mod and I see bugs, in sunny weather, shadows from trees appear right in front of my nose, and shadows on weapons look like noise. Disabling MSAA does not change anything.

In some circumstances the screen space shadows can be very noisy, but is not something too bad... But shadows from trees appearing sounds like a bug or something else... Can you give me more details about your specs and how you setup the game? maybe a video?

I checked one assumption
Disabling the "disable distant shadows" option helped me
Maybe the problem is that some shader of the "enhanced shaders" addon has gone bad, I don't know what happened
What do you think about it?
I also have to say that I turned on GGX in "Enhanced shaders", maybe that's the reason? In sunny weather, the trees in the distance are white and turn colored when I get closer.

this frankly sounds exactly like just enhanced shaders on their own - it's the reason I'm not using them, xray engine simply wasn't made for this sort of shading and the effect damages more than it enhances in my experience. People tend to rave about ES and of course all the cudos to the author as it's not his fault, but the engine, how it renders light, especially in the distance was simply not cut out of it.

Can you test if changing the line 65 inside "accum_sun_near.ps" to "return float4( SRGBToLinear(Ldynamic_color.rgb * s.xxx),1) * light;" fix your problem?

Yes, of course, I have configured this shader as recommended, it is quite possible that this is really the normal behavior of Enhanced shaders in sunny weather, I don't know. I saw the same problem in sunny weather in one Youtube video :)
