UPDATE 19th Dec: Added snowfall.
A large, winter-themed 4player map created for the GameReplays Generals Evolution Map Creation Challenge. Also included are No Superweapons variants.
See full description for screenshots!
Features & info:
- Very large map. Largest that WB supports (750² units)
- Semi-symmetrical design
- Multiple ways in and out of bases
- Physically accurate terrain (based on a mountainous area of Colorado)
- Completed from scratch start-to-finish in only 4 days. Finer detail additions took another 3.
- Custom camera settings to avoid clipping and visible frustum culling
- Over 4000 manually placed trees
- GenEvo volume texture LUT + custom bloom settings
- Lots of appropriate soundscapes scattered throughout the map (birds, wind, etc)
- Tech structures: 4 oil derricks
- Civilian buildings: 14 garrisonable, many more as ruined scenery.
- I also included a No Superweapon and "LowSpec" (cheap) variants
Quirks:
- The way snowfall works requires you to have the compiled map files installed. This means that if you or a friend try to transfer the map in-game using the lobby/MP transfer feature, you and other players will likely get out of sync.
- Some rocks and trees lack z-depth due to lack of normal maps(?). Basically, they are visible through fog and mist.
- The "hot spring' model at the centre of the map is internally programmed to disappear after 1 minute. I wrote a custom script to fix this, however there may be slight visual glitches because of the way I wrote the fix.
- I manually painted Impassable terrain over the entire mountain ranges, but I might have missed some spots. If you notice any weird pathing issues, let me know.
- Map uses a lot of AmbientFX entities and as such requires a half-decent PC to run. I tested on my old GTX 1050ti and it runs fine, but anything older than probably a 600 series nVidia card might struggle. I included cheap versions for people who have FPS issues on the high detail map.
- "Map Cliff Textures" tool is broken in GenEvo Worldbuilder. This meant that I was unable to automatically texture any part of the map and had to do it all by hand.
EDIT: Thanks to Kyle, Cloud & Windows98 for their feedback and pointing out some bugs

Anyone been able to solve the crashing on loading into maps even for high sepc machines?
