To prevent any confusion: The SWAT mods are based on the FLMM (Freelancer Mod Manager) 1.31. Other version of this Mod Manager (such as the 1.4 beta version - which is bugged) might not work correctly.
The use of FLMM has some disadvantages such as problems with deactivating mods due to errors in the script sequence which prevents that xml scripts can properly deactivated. On the other side FLMM is the only tool available to install Freelancer mods which are based on xml scripts.
Note: All SWAT mods require the use of FLMM. If you have the genious idea to copy the mod files into your Freelancer directory without using FLMM you will end up with a bugged mod which also might you get banned from our servers if your corrupted installation is causing server crashes.
We recomment to use a clean installation of Freelancer before you activate our mods. With "clean installation" we mean that you have to delete your Freelancer directory via "windows explorer" and install the game again. Just to re-install Freelancer over an existing Freelancer directory does not work since not all files get replaced and FLMM (in case you used other mods before) has created write protections for certain files which now need to get overwritten. So delete FL and install it again to prevent possible errors.
Now download the mods from here or from www.swat-portal.com
After this is done you can use FLMM 1.31 to activate the mods. Depending on the size of the mod this can take some time and on some PCs the progress bar stops to move. Just ignore that fact, the activation will be done.
Searching for a server might be tricky for some mods since Microsoft decided to close the Global list server. But there are still many servers available which either can be accessed via GLS workaround (check the FL main site on moddb) or with special connection tools.
SWAT mods usually have build in Update tools which automatically will connect you to the correct server. All you have to do is to launch Freelancer.exe just like you always did. Its self explaining and automated stuff.
Antivir messages: We are aware that in case of Crossfire 1.7 antivir tool might start give virus warnings. Reason for these warnings is an encrypted code which is part of our anticheat protection. We are not much interested in infecting our players PCs or hiding the fact that our software contains a crypt signature which cause false virus alarms. If you downloaded the mods from moddb.com and www.swat-portal.com we can guarantee that your system does not get infected.
Installation Instructions
This are general installation instructions for Freelancer mods developed by the SWAT Portal and the SWAT development team.

Could you not Automatically put a an "Open with Mod Manager" on the download Post?
You need to have FLMM installed BEFORE you install Crossfire. This should be in the instructions for people coming back to Freelancer who have never used FLMM before.
If your Crossfire installation doesn't automatically find FLMM as the install path, it will not work right.
the year is 2021, I installed Crossfire 2 without installing flmm at all. Game runs perfect
