The Xenoforce Reborn mod takes the classic Xenoforce mod from CNC Generals and re-invisions it on the CNC3 engine with new units and new designs. The new armies that are currently scheduled to be in the mod are the Earth Federation, ZEON, the Invid, and the Earth Robotech Defense Force. We also have heavily modified the original CNC3 armies, giving the GDI, NOD, and Scrin a much more dynamic gameplay experience. This mod is NOT FOR PROFIT and NON-commercial based.

Do you think so? The Venom is getting set back to its original roll of scout/fire support so thats really all it is. It can detect stealth, it has a light laser gun, and thats about it. Then again its still an Air unit, I'm not sure how the game will handle them.

Yea, it defiantly is something to be concerned about, but no more than any other crazy *** design we have done with the game lol. I'm more concerned about the "instant build in the field" design that we have in place for Nods bases. We're doing our best to use this design while not making it so that a player can simply "cheat" and drop defenses into their enemies bases.

I really like this idea.

One question/concern that I have is that the Buggies limit the Venom's mobility - if there is a cliff, the Venom could fly over it with no difficulty, but the Buggies cannot follow. In that vein, what about having Venoms attach to Buggy Squads the same way that Buzzers attach to Scrin vehicles? That way, the Venom could detach when it needs to scout ahead and reattach to provide close support.

Unfortunately the way the code works the main unit and the leader's speed has to be the same. This limits the Venom down to the Buggies speed. The buzzer code is a real pain in the *** to mess with, I honestly don't know what effect it would have or if it would work right but I don't really want to mess with it. This also limits the movement type to a single type, in this case a ground unit.

We were going to change the roll of the Venom anyways to pure scout / support and this technically does the job pretty easily. The squads get detect stealth, greater vision from the Venom and we are toying with the idea of also having the Venom grant greater fire range on those squads.

Are leaders upgraded individually? or through research? Kinda wondering if you could click on squad and upgrade it with one of say 3 different leaders, like a venom or something heavy but slow like an avatar instead making versitile roles for squads? :D

That's a really cool idea, it would be very difficult to do but not Impossible I believe. We wouldn't use it for nod at this point, it would be a big hit on nods timeline of getting done but maybe seed.

That would be cool, but I think that would break the game code-wise, I have read somewhere of people trying that and it just wasn't stable.

As for the Venom support, I would make it so that it maintains the speed of the troops it supports, and replace it's flying with the same movement type as the troops, minus being able to be ran over. That way it sticks to the ground and doesn't go flying over a cliff and get somewhere before the squad does. And will prevent silly stuff such as a Juggernaut or tank crushing it while it 50 ft above it. lol

Well if you tried to do it the direct way yes it would cause a crash. How it would work is you have your squad with a leader, say for this example the confessor in the squad of infantry. You have the upgrades that let you choose what you wish to replace the confesssor with, say a flame tank, a scorpion tank, or a venom.

Actually switching them out would be hard, but if you just make it a model/weapon swap with some attribute modifications all triggered by an upgrade then the end effect is your changing the leader out in game but in the code its the same unit. Its pretty much the same thing we have already done with the ef airfields, with the planes swapping out to newer tech versions as the uc player progresses.

There is always more than one way to skin a cat, if you know what I mean. (On that note, who. The **** would skin a cat? That's just not right)

Anyone call for some Venom air support? :) Yep, now we have an air unit as the leader of the ground squad, giving some much needed support.
