How to Get Early Version?

For many centuries humans, dwarves and elves lived in the likeness of peace without thinking about the stars and rarely looking beyond the borders of their own countries. Azeroth has been relatively quiet place with rare clashes of countries occasionally diluted by flaccid raids of gnolls and trolls. But everything changed when the great sorcerer Medivh had created a portal between Azeroth and Draenor - the distant and wild world, home to the countless orcish clans and other amazing races. Recently these creatures have drunk the blood of Mannoroth, one of the demons of the Burning Legion, eager to open the way to Azeroth and resurrect their lord - Sargeras. How the coming era of war will turn out? Triumph or oblivion? It's up to you...

"Guardians of Azeroth" - is a global mod, based on the Warcraft universe by Blizzard Intertainment. In this mod our team is going to image the world of Azeroth in all its glory, particularly focusing on the story of the classic strategies and World of Warcraft Classic. You will be able to assume the role of one of the human kings or test your luck in the role of conqueror of other worlds! You can restore justice in Azeroth or plunge into the chaos of the Scourge and the Burning Legion. In the end, you can simply turn the whole world into your debtors playing as the goblin' cartels. All decisions are belong to you.

FEATURES:

  • All the nations of the four continents of Azeroth are avaliable for playing. You can play anyone: from the usual humans to dwarves of the Dark Iron clan.
  • Try to create a new Azeroth empire which we have never seen before. For players are available wild tribes of murlocs and gnolls, pygmies of Southern Islands, kobolds and even wolvars of Northrend! Note that it will not be easy to lead these nations to victory.
  • Prepare for war! You will find many feat of arms. Many special combat units (such as paladins and death knights) will help you to achieve it, as well as your personal skills with sword and magic.
  • Players will have access to all classes of the classic World of Warcraft, as well as a few non-standard specializations like Loa Priests etc. Almost every class can be transformed into something less usual, for example the blade master or potion doc.
  • Highly detailed map of Azeroth where everyone can find many basic location of the games. Also the mod includes many regions which you still cannot find in the MMORPG (Kul Tiras, Plunder Isle, Tel Abim and more).
  • A large number of new traits allowing you to make your game character truly original.
  • The possibility to decide the fate of your favorite characters as you want.
  • Sea of fun and new gaming experience!

Hello! A couple of weeks ago we released a new version of the mod and in this short period of time we have managed to prepare a couple of new features that are worth talking to you about and to give you an idea of future changes to the mod.

First of all, let's talk about something more... vanilla: the merchant republics. Stratholme and the Trade Coalition are planned to be merchant republics at the start. Yes, we have brought them back to their former glory… or did we? The republic now hold elections every 12 years. This was done so that an immortal ruler could not rule the nation indefinitely, and we also redesigned the map to make large trade zones possible. For example, it is now possible to seize the entire trade zone in the Baradin Bay or lay a sea route from Kezan to Kalimdor. Don't forget, large trade zones give more profit.

The next change is quite small, but nice. All religions will get small bonuses and maluses. For example, worshippers of the Tidemother will pay less for building cities, but their troops will regain morale slower than normal. They will also get a minus to intrigue, but a bonus to diplomacy. This should add more flavor to the religion.

I think it's not a secret that the AI in CK2 likes when its vassals follow its religion and culture. This kind of behavior makes it very difficult to implement the Horde and the Alliance, where many different nationalities sort of tolerate one another. To encourage more tolerance, we have added a new type of government: a political faction. Now, the Alliance and Horde rulers cannot ask for a change of religion or a permission for Heritage focus. Also, when choosing the leader of the Alliance or the Horde, electors will not pay much attention to the culture and religion of the candidate since it does not play a big role anymore; their traits are now more important.

Speaking of elections and traits, we also reworked them... and not only the Alliance and Horde ones. Now, cultures and religions have preferred character traits. This affects the behavior of the electors, the followers of the Light will prefer to vote for a humble, chaste, patient lord, while the followers of Loa would try to choose an ambitious, proud and brave son of a chieftain. Also, these preferred character traits will affect your court. You will often find a proud and cynical elf, a brave and honest orc or a greedy and gluttonous goblin.

The most liberal democracies have not remained without changes. I’m talking about the demonic legions, undead hordes and the black pacts of course! Now they are... less democratic. The word of the current ruler is worth more. The vote of each general of the evil armies depends on their intrigue, the size of their army, realm,martial and combat skills. Thus, the strongest and most evil villains determine who will lead them further.

And now let's talk about the most important thing: interracial marriages. What will they be like? The idea is quite simple. Any combination of marriages between orcs, elves, humans and draenei is possible. At the same time, vrykul and humans can have marriages. Orcs and ogres can do the same. You can disable interracial marriages or remove these restrictions via the game rules. If a child is born in such a marriage, its race isn’t chosen by chance, for there is also a game rule for this. Once the main race has been selected, the half-breed person receives “blood” from his or her second parent. The most important task of this "blood" is to improve relations with the race of the second parent. Not all races can give their "blood". If you remove restrictions on interracial marriage, the "blood" is given only by the races that were provided for in the rule with restrictions.

First of all, thank you for all the great work you've been doing, that being said a couple quick questions

Will there be more storyline events for different characters?

Will there be bookmarks for the Troll War as well as War of the Three Hammers?

How is the playable Dragons coming along? The units could just be dragon-cult / dragonkin if you're trying to figure out how to figure out their numbers

Also, will we see more representation with the different orc clans? Right now we are missing a lot of Characters for the Orcs

Once again thank you for making a fantastic mod! The only thing I really would like is more events to add flavor, for me, events are part of the reason to play ck2.

After playing many characters here's some feedback:

Night Elves are too strong.
Qiraji are too strong.
Not once the lich king awakened.
The horde is always kicked out of Kalimdor by the Night Elves.
Loarderon never falls and blobs out.
Night elves kill the Draenei, always.
Played Arthas multiple times, his father dies asap and the Lich king event never fires even if I join the cult of the dammed.

Great mod, I love it. Can't wait for the next update

Start game as Medivh and have not a lot influence on process. Lordaeron falled. Hight Elves falled. NE kicked Legion. Lich King kills all.

About night elves and qiraji, we know it and balancing it. About the Lich King, no idea what "awakened" means. If you mean the Plague, do you have "Reaper's Due" DLC? About the Draenei, I would like to know what CB they use. As I know, they don't have de-jure claims. Arthas' event chain is STORYLINE, it only works under certain conditions, otherwise these events make no sense.

Oh, the Reaper's Due and Rajas are the only DLC I don't have, dammit. I meant that the Lich King stays incapable, always, maybe it is because I don't have the DLC. I don't know which CB the Night Elves use on the Dreanei, I pause and look at the map every 10 years and they are gone after some time, I'll play as a vassal of the Exodar to take a look once they land. Also, a list of recommended DLC in the summary would be nice, I assumed we didn't need any since it wasn't mentioned. I really wanted to do the Arthas storyline, it is awesome in Warcraft 3.

There was event where Arthas merges with Ner'zhul, but it was disabled. Most likely, it will return in the Frozen Throne bookmark. Yep, Arthas' storyline can't happen if there's no the Plague that requires "Reaper's Due". List of required DLCs is mentioned on download pages.
