Supported CK2 version: 3.3.x
As you may already know, we have a public Github repository from which you can download an early version of our mod. Here's how to go about it.
- Install GitHub Desktop with the installer.
- Just skip the registration.
- Click on “Clone Repository” (Ctrl+Shift+O, if you're already in the main menu and don't see this window like on the screenshot below).
- Click “URL” and copy/paste in the following…
Warcraft-GoA-Development-Team/Warcraft-Guardians-of-Azeroth
- When choosing a location for the repository, choose…
C:\Users\<User>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod
- Check your Local path, it must show…
ATTENTION! There must be your user name instead of "User". Plus, don't forget that "Users" and "Documents" folders may be translated into the language of your OS.C:\Users\<User>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\Warcraft-Guardians-of-Azeroth
- Click “Clone” and wait till the cloning is finished
- Copy “Warcraft-Guardians-of-Azeroth.mod”, located in the just downloaded “Crusader Kings II\mod\Warcraft-Guardians-of-Azeroth” folder, to the “Crusader Kings II\mod” folder.
- Open the CK2 launcher and select “Warcraft: GoA (Early)”. Make sure that other mods are disabled.
- Enjoy!
Now you have the early version on your PC. Click “Fetch origin” to check for new updates. If there’s one, click “Pull origin” to download it.
Most likely, your “Current branch” is “master”, it’s the most stable and tested version.
To switch your branch, click on “Current branch” and select a new one in the list.
We recommend you to play on “master” branch. For veeery early versions, you can check Our Pull Requests. Open any PR (Pull Request), read the changelog, if you like changes and want to test them, the name of this branch is written at the top of the page.
Find the branch in the list of your Github Desktop and switch to it.
Don’t forget to click on “Fetch origin” to make sure there’s no new undownloaded updates.
If you have questions or problems, ask right here!
Thanks for attention!
Would this work with TortoiseSVN as well?
Also, you can just send them to Github.com and they can download the raw files from that website instead of installing the Github program.
It downloads the whole mod folder even if there's one changed file and it makes sense when you know that there's something new. Otherwise, there's chance to download the same early version twice. GitHub Desktop can check for updates and download only relevant files. So, I wouldn't recomend to download from Github directly.
Nope.
I tried playing the beta versions, sadly every time I try to play any early version (I started with master branch, but tried a few others after) I get a ctd without an error message after a couple of ingame days.
I have found out that at the moment of each crash the following exception was recorded in the exceptions.log:
######## EXCEPTION: 0xC0000005 at address: 0x01665861: ACCESS VIOLATION read attempt to address 0x00000000
Version: Unknown Version
07/07/19 17:06:55
I have barely any idea of hex-locations (as this seems to be the problem here, right?) and thus no idea what the problem in this situation is.
I would be grateful if anyone had an idea how I can fix this, as I would gladly play the beta version
I need to know:
- Your OC?
- Your CK2 version?
- What checksum you see in the main menu when you run the vanilla?
- What checksum if see in the main menu when you run the master branch? Don't forget to Pull the master before it.

It tells "permission denied" when I clone the url
Try to...
1) Open Github Desktop
2) Repository > Remote
3) Change remote link on "https://github.com/Warcraft-GoA-Development-Team/Warcraft-Guardians-of-Azeroth.git"
Note: Don't copy quote marks, only https link.
Hey, a few questions:
1. The Scourge seems to lose the war against Lordaeron most of the time, how to make this slightly more in the Scourge's favor?
2. When the Scourge wins, I have never seen them attack Quel'Thalas and so the Blood Elves never form - any suggestions how to change this?
3. Would it be possible to make Alexandros Mograine a count so that he is playable? In addition, would it be possible to change his characteristics to mirror those that help proc the Ashbringer event chain? As stands, I believe anyone can trigger it as long as they worship the Holy Light. Is there a way to limit this to people in Lordaeron and increase the chance?
4. Any suggestions for playing as Human remnants struggling to survive in Lordaeron after the Scourge victory? I have tried playing as Arthas, and it's fine but it's not the most fun just sitting there with nothing to do while all your neighbors are Scourge.
