FIRST RELEASE OF THE BETTER ANIMAL KINGDOMS MOD

We are pleased to announce the release of the Better Animal Kingdoms Mod!

What is it?

The Better Animal Kingdoms Mod is a mostly graphical mod which adds additional animal cultures (such as foxes, red pandas, lions and more planned!) to the Animal Kingdoms option in shattered and random worlds generation of Crusader Kings II Holy Fury.

This mod is still a work in progress, currently only containing three species, and will focus on adding more content time come.
Though, you can already download it and enjoy the content currently available, and help improve the mod by noting bugs you experienced or simply suggestions for furhter development!

Features

The mod, in version 1.0, currently only contains these animal cultures:

  • Red Pandas
  • Red Foxes
  • Lions

Each culture has its own culture specific clothing and buildings, all of which are unchanged vanilla and DLC items (look in prerequisites for installing mod!). Each animal species is able to wear any other culture clothes without any trouble, though headwear is restricted.

Prerequisites

To run this mod, in its original form, you need:

  • Crusader Kings II [3.0 compatible] (the actual game, essential)
  • Holy Fury DLC (essential)
  • Jade Dragon DLC (essential)*
  • The Republic DLC (essential)*
  • Customization Pack (recommended)

* If you wish to run this mod, but do not have the required DLC (Jade Dragon or The Republic), an alternative adapted download is indeed available, but you will not be able to enjoy the full experience.
(WIP)

1. Download the mod (the compressed file, .rar), it will be a "BAKM.rar" file.

2. In order to install the mod, you are to navigate to your CK2 mods folder (Not the one in your CK2 install directory, but the one usually located...) in the following locations:

Can you make this work with animal world?

It's really easy to make this work with animal world. You just need to go into the 99_animals file in the cultures folder and add a text line, if you go into CK2s 99_animals file you should be able to copy/paste the line from there.

I like a lot this mod, but, cant you increase the number of modificable portrait catacteristics?
And maybe, you see interesting add some new traits :)

Most definitely! I was thinking about adding those for 3.0.
In any case, I don't think I would consider the mod "finished" without them.

a few suggestions:
-vanilla and new creatures more modifiable and diverse.
-unique military building per culture
-maybe unique event card and 3D models for armies and councilers?

but this mod is still new. so i'll guess we wait?

Those are some very neat ideas!
I've actually been working on making unique counciller models, even have the textures finished. Though, I don't think it will make it in by the next (3.0) update, which will be focused more on culture specific events.
Oh, and 2.0 should be coming out by the end of the week.
