War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. Renown such as the smiths of the Nogrod have fetched for their works with jewels and metals, the Champions of Nogrod have fetched for their bravery and skill at arms. None save the most stout and fire-hearted of the Naugrim of Nogrod are selected to join the elite ranks of the Champions. Unparalleled among all the Naugrim is their skill in the wielding of the great war-axes they bear, capable of splitting the skulls of ferocious wargs in a single stroke. Upon the battlefield like the beasts of the wild the ravage through orcish ranks, leaving in their wake only blood and carnage, shouting in their harsh tongue cries of war. No shields they bear for the wielding of their great war-axes requires two strong arms to swing. In the fine mail hauberk made by the skilled smiths of Nogrod they are clad, so fine the mail is, that all save the mightiest of blows are turned aside by it. Upon their proud heads they bear the finely made but simple helms that are traditional for the Dwarven-folk. The glint of their high held axes is blinding and a fell and terrible sight they are to behold, trampling all in their path, and nigh on unstoppable is their rage and prowess on the battlefield.
