War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!
Heavy Nogrod warriors and renowned smiths and craftsmen, guarding the royal vaults and armouries and traveling in armed companies through the dwarf-road to work for the Elven-kings. Armed with heavy hammers and shields bearing the device of Nogrod, hammer and anvil, and clad in linked mail and helmets.

Of great skill the Smiths of the Nogrod are, the beauty and quality of their crafts fetching them renown and admiration from even the skilled Elves of the Noldor. Within the deep mountain-forges of their mansions in the cities of Nogrod and Belegost they toil away at the many projects they are tasked with by their proud kings. But not for merely their folk alone do they toil, but for also their steadfast allies in the West. Often the Elf-Kings of old would hire the skill of these smiths to perform various tasks for them, for so great was their skill with jewels and metals.
For some time the Dwarf Road into the West, to their Elven friends was safe, as the Leaguer of Angband held and few orcs and goblins came through. During that time great the traffic upon that road was, and there was no fear of attack. But once the Leaguer broke and the Noldor were scattered, roving goblins often assailed the merchants and travelling smiths of the Naugrim upon the Dwarf-Road. Undeterred and stubbornly the Dwarves continued, if at a lessened rate, to traverse the Dwarf Roads and make for the Elven Halls. After this time, the Dwarves travelling upon the Road always went in well armed companies, the smiths in particular were seldom molested as they went clad as companies of war, bearing great war hammers, shields and mail worthy of any Naugrim captain. Although they are not trained in the art of war, lifetimes of smiting metal with hammers and pumping the bellows to heat the fire of their forges has bestowed these Dwarves with impressive strength, that few orcs can parallel.
Nice!
