There are some times when Daemon Lord commander loses the ability to build honor guards (Allow honor guards is on)... I am unable to isolate the cause but it happens once in a while

Love deamons but
I feel they lack for 1. Fire power & when I say firepower I mean (good) ranged attacks,they are daemons after all they shoot dark "stuff" with negative affects.
2nd,they Lack spells and or curses. I thought chaos daemons would have lots of dark powers
3rd. Choice of base-defense/fortification (besides turrents wich are fine but I might want to mix it up or think of how i want to do things)

What needs to be buffed
Hellspawn (or let us have more than 1)
lesser daemons

They already have 14 choosable gifts, and most daemons have >= 1 ability.

I don't even know what to rate them.
I only played the Daemons race once, but there is something I just don't understand. I noticed that my lesser daemons just starting dying for no reason, and I noticed that the bottom of the tooltip it said that lesser demons were unstable and will rapidly deteriorate when away from daemonic structures. So you can't really attack with them, they can only defend otherwise they will just die when they leave base. So what is the point of them? Is there something I am missing or misunderstanding?

i think deamons are messed up bad. change them to requisition and soul gathering as resources. bloodthirsters and other avatars of the chaos gods are kinda weak.(should cost souls to get) and they lack firepower big time. also final tier relic units need to be like one of the chaos gods themselves manifesting unto the battle field. like khorne as a massive uber awesome version of a blood thirster.(and so on with whichever mark you choose) for example slanesh could appear as a normal sized person but could change between a man and woman and each state has different powers he would use globaly. just a suggestion

I like ANNISTY's idea about soul gathering but i dont mind the demonic power thing either. The hell spawns model is tiny and often difficult to click, for something that's meant to be a titan it looks like it totally sucks (which isn't actually the case to be fair). Anyway of making it like x100 bigger? It's supposed to be an epic demon at the end of the day :P also the Soul grinder could use some attention.
I also agree with the points made about the spells and curses. Maybe some slow damage and some life leech, just brainstorming here. Maybe even a team change ability! Or perhaps this is better suited for a Chaos Sorcerer, i.e. spell makes specific unit/squad now yours to command. They are now corrupted and fight for the dark gods.

Yeah... I guess you can blaim Daemons mod for vanilla Soulstorm. Before then, Daemons were announced epic and very daemonic. After that, when I was so focused on vanilla balance, the Chaos Daemons literally became weaker with vanilla properties added upon it all over.

The unfortunate part is, it will definitely take a very long time to make them better, and I am talking beyond the 1.72 release. Daemons needs time to be reworked tpo the old days, and I simply don't have time for a 1.72 release implementation. :( This baby, I want BADLY released in March, but the kinda bugs found, especially the ai, needs to definitely be fixed before the release, so gameplay overall will be THAT good, THAT better. :)

Daemons is one of the game breakers so far, not happy about it either... but 1.72 will not include Daemons revamp and I'm sorry. :( But it will be a perfect excuse to wait for 1.73, mwa ha ha ha ha ha!

Another thing that I noticed is that many daemonic units (including the Chaos Space Marines' daemons) have "heavy infantry" armor type. Shouldn't they have "Daemon" armor type since they are daemons, but with less health?

Noticed that Soul Grinder barely does any kind of ranged damage of what it is supposed to deal, even against IG guardsmen. Or maybe it is just me.

The hell spawn is actually really too powerfull. Last game i did, a hellspawn killed my titan portal ( dark eldar ) in exactly 7 seconds, even the reaver isnt as powerfull as that.

Its the only balance problem i've seen as far as i played, this mod still is the best.

The Daemons has the capacity to have every unit as a statue or shrine to the unit.

I know FX can be added to root of a model through Corsix, I think as abilities?

So I am developing pedestal fx for the chaos daemons and would appreciate knowledge to help Gambit on how to apply the FX of Pedestal to the models of the daemons.
So when the models are turned into buildings, flight can be used to raise the models off of the floor and above the pedestal to a suitable position. so that the statues would be animated on the pedestals.
Ref: Shrine to Khala Mensha Khaine.

Now textures are easy. just like icons creations.

Then for example....
Horrors textured properly could turn into a turret.
As could any daemon with varying degrees of abilities which I know can be set in corsix. using motions for the animations required and having the ranged weapon fx produced from the turret to the target.

Some could be used for research buildings based around the specific god or unit research abilities.
