Hi all, here is the fourth map in my Trench War Series! It centers around the imperial communications tower as shown in Star Wars Rebels Season 1, Episode 12. It's a bit more linear than the last map, Wobani, but still has the cool, intense gameplay I always strive for. There is only limited cover on the platforms, as I was struggling to balance the aesthetics of getting the tower right and accurate to the show as best I could while also allowing for good gameplay. Cool features:
-Communications tower, platforms, and highway as seen in Star Wars Rebels
-Destroyable Gozanti class imperial frigates, as seen in the Rebels series
-The Ghost is a prop in the landing area at the base of the tower (both ghost and gozanti frigate made by warb_null, converted by AceMastermind, textured by me)
-2 non stock rebel vehicles, in the Hovernaut (SWBF2 Conversion Team) and the Combatspeeder proto (Psych0fred)
-I increased the AT-AT's health, because I hit the cp limit of 16 and in lieu of simply having more AT-AT's, which is impossible for the game to run, I simply increased their health to give them a more persistent presence on the battlefield
known bugs:
-still no sound on the ywing turret. no idea when/if I'll ever get that to work haha
-due to the large number of ai, some (especially imps) often stop moving/fighting/doing anything, most notably in the empty area not too far from the empire's main starting cp in the grass. This only happens to a few of the hundreds of ai though, so the battle intensity isn't greatly affected
-some flickering objects, due to size and high object count
-no explosion for when you destroy the gozanti frigates, and also the health bar of it is often hard to see unless you look from the exact right angle. Two of the turrets on the gozanti's dont work for some reason, but each frigate has 6 turrets, so hopefully it isn't too big of a deal
-the cut off for the edge of the map looks quite off when flying very high up; this is mostly due the finite terrain size swbf2 has, though in future updates I may be able to improve the appearance slightly. This is def one map for which an future update seems likely
As always when I make my own custom assets, they will be released for modders to use freely, so my tower, platforms, highway, etc., will be released later today. Also, feel free to comment ideas/suggestions/constructive criticism, etc. I always love receiving feedback, positive or negative. Bugs, balancing, etc. is also helpful for me in making it better. On a smaller not, when I released cw wobani a while ago, it didnt move the mod page to the top of the list (which normally happens when something is updated or added), and as a result comparatively few people saw it. So for those who haven't heard, CW Wobani is out, under the addon tab of the Trench War mod page.

Nice work. I really like this map. But the only thing I didn't like was the textures of the roads. I think it would look better with a more detailed texture

Thanks! I do my best. I personally think my modelling is getting better, if I do say so myself, though that first commenter is 100% right that my texturing is sub par; hopefully with time I'll get better
Well this map, unlike my others, uses custom sides to accommodate the new vehicles, so make sure you don't have any side mods running that could be causing issues. Secondly, check to make sure that you don't have too many mods in your addon folder, as that can crash the game too. Is anyone else having this issue? It never happened to me while testing
Same here, I suspect it's because I'm using Harrisonfog's remastered sides
That would make sense; I used custom sides for once and that's prob causing the issue. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it - just uninstall the side mod and it should work fine. If it still doesn't work, lmk and i'll see if i can find what's causing it. Thanks for pointing out the issue guys!
I have the same problem, when I spawn I crash momentarily, and I have the Harrisonfogs mod I think that's why
The map looks really cool but unfortunately it crashes when I spawn. I am pretty sure it’s because I have too many maps.
A lot of ppl seem to be having this prob, even though mimban, which also has custom sides, doesn't seem to. It could just be too many maps or side mods or something, but its also a large map with a very large load distance. For version 1.1 i'll be lowering all the rendering distances and ai count as much as i can w/o hurting gameplay and see if that helps. rn the map might just be too much for some ppl's machines even though it's fine for mine. Might not be enough, as it's a very large map, but it should increase the chances at least a little. 1.1 will also have new characters, vehicles, and more
Okay! Take your time. I love clone wars and rebels but unfortunately clone wars gets more mod attention, I was very excited when I say this map! I haven’t looked at the other maps but I am going to because the few glimpses I saw of Lothal was really cool! When can I expect the 1.1 version
Maybe a week, idk. I will say that this is the only map of mine that significant numbers of ppl have been having probs on, so the rest should be fine
The map crashes as soon as I try to spawn on any team.
It works fine for me, but many ppl are reporting this issue, so it could be that your machine isnt as good as mine (which would be weird, as mines not that great). But as you can see from the vid it works fine for me. In the 1.1 ill lower the render distance and foliage settings as much as i can without hurting the gameplay. Other than that, it could be a side mod or just too many maps in the addon folder
EDIT lowering your view and lod distances in your game settings wouldnt hurt either, but hopefully i can get this sorted out in the 1.1. If your discord is still up i might reach out to you for some playtesting for the next version soon, as i really want to make sure that works, and i cant really do much on that front bc the crash isnt happening to me in the first place
IMPORTANT REQUEST. If anyone who is experiencing these crashes has the modtools, could you run it with the mod tools and get an error log. I really want to fix this crash, but it's hard for me to understand what's causing it when it isnt happening to me. Just dm with the log if you get one
Don't know how far this will get you, but, I am also experiencing the crash and I realized that when the lod distance is set to any more than 30ish the game will crash when you spawn. I have all of your maps and none of them have this problem or anything similar. I don't have an underpowered machine either, this seems to be a game related crash.

I have my lod set to 99 and it works fine for me, so I still think it might be machine related. Alternatively, it's also possible that you have a graphics mod that might add more strain to the device. Regardless, though, this at least proves that this issue is the render distance and/or the foliage that ppl's computers are having trouble rendering, and I will significantly lower all stats related to that in the next version to help as much as possible. Also, I'd like to do some beta tests with ppl who are experiencing the crash, so if you'd like to beta test the 1.1, pls dm me. It'll be a few days before i can get the beta to you though, as i'm having some issues with the world file rn because im an unbelievable moron haha
