While not every map will have literal trenches, the aim of this map series is to provide players with intense, walker based combat centered around the GCW era. A few maps include CW. 20 maps have been released so far, including locations from Ahsoka, Bad Batch, SW Rebels, Rogue One, Solo, and other GCW venues, and more are planned.
After seizing the communications tower in the grassy plains outside of Lothal's Capital City, the Rebel Alliance comes under heavy fire from the Imperial war machine. Desperate to spread their message of hope throughout the galaxy, they must hold the tower at all costs.
This version is outdated. Download the updated one here: Moddb.com
Here is the 1.1 release of Lothal: Communications tower, which adds many new vehicles, units, heroes, weapons, and misc. improvements. I also made significant efforts to reduce the likelyhood of crashes some experienced in the first version. Beta testers who had experienced the crash on the first version reported that this version works fine so long as they lower their settings a little. It should work fine for many (or even most) on max settings, but if you experience a crash, lowering your LOD distance should work. You can also lower other settings like view distance, shadow quality, lighting quality, etc. The Beta tester said it works fine if you do those things. Please do no report crashes unless (1) you are sure you have no side mods or other mods that might be interfering installed, (2) you are sure you don't have too many maps in your addon folder, and (3) you have already tried lowering the aforementioned settings. If you do those things, it should work this time, unless you have a really, really weak device.
Changelog:
- No fewer than 8 new vehicles have been added, 7 of which are custom vehicles. They are:
-Rebel B Wing
-Rebel K Wing
-Rebel R41 Starfighter
-Rebel Light Attack Speeder
-Rebel T4-B Tank
-Imperial Tie Bomber
-Imperial Tie Defender
-Imperial Tie Striker
-The following units and heroes have been added as well:
-All 5 main characters of Star Wars Rebels (Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Garazeb Orrelios
-Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Grand Inquisitor, both of whom made appearances in the Rebels Series
-Other units, including: Imperial Flametrooper, Imperial Heavy Gunner, and Alliance Field Commander
-New weapons, including the EE-4, the DLT-19D, the Imperial Heavy Repeater, the CJ-BO Rifle, and more
-Improved Ghost model, including accurate texture and landing gear
-Misc. changes, including hintnodes and barrier and planning changes for improved ai behavior, atst chin cannon now has the same sound as the atat chin cannon, fixed the Gozantis' explosion (though, due to lighting overload, it still often doesn't work, but the effect is at least in game now and sometimes works), increased map size so it looks a little better from high up, and reduced view distances and foliage distances and increased memory pools to help reduce rendering strain and to help increase stability.
There is also a mystery Easter Egg that Sabine, Ezra, and Zeb hid out among the plains! Can you find it?
Known Bugs:
-Just like with Mimban, the floating weapon icon fix didn't work for the Rebels, though it worked fine for the Empire. I tried a few things, but ultimately couldn't get it working; I really don't know what I did wrong. I followed the same steps for the Rebels as I did for the Empire, and, just like with Mimban, it didn't work for the Rebels. It's a small detail though, and hopefully won't detract from the map too much
-Kanan is wearing that annoying mask, which isn't cannon for season one of Rebels, but I still went with it because the only other Kanan model I had was super low poly, and looked REALLY bad. There's also an issue with his animations. Whoever made the model didn't seem to have the arms fully attached to the torso, so sometimes you can see some space in between them when using the melee. I'm crap at modelling and don't really know how to fix it. Looks great though!
-ywing turret still has no sound, and the t4-b has no engine sounds. I worked really hard on the t4-b, and sporadia helped a lot on the gametoast forums, but ultimately I couldn't get it. But once the battle gets going, all the other things will be so loud that you likely won't even notice
-some flickering objects
-effects often get overloaded, so some lighting and explosion effects (including the now working gozanti explosion) do not show up. Lowering lighting quality helps, but doesn't fix it entirely
The Sabine and Ezra model, including his lightsaber, I threw together myself. They're pretty bad, especially compared to the other character models that other people made/converted. Nevertheless, as always, I will release those assets like I do all custom assets anyway, and that will be done hopefully pretty soon.
I can also announce that despite receiving no votes for the first week or so of the poll, Jedha since soared to an overwhelming lead. I was personally hoping for Lah'mu or Thule, but I love democracy, I love the Republic, and I will honor the results. Jedha is next.
While I work on Jedha, I would like to consider the tradition of democracy in this mod, and I have made a new poll so you can vote on what you want to see after Jedha. The losers from the last poll, Lah'mu and Thule, will be joined by Eadu and Seelos, and I look to increase Rogue One and Rebels content. Here is the link to vote: Docs.google.com
Happy modding!

Seriously love this map! So happy it works now and love all of the props everywhere it makes it look so good. Super hyped for Jedha (I love democracy).
Glad you like it, and thanks again for beta testing. I forgot to put you on the credits initially, but just now fixed it and put it up there in the description. If you want I can reupload the file with a fixed readme with the updated credits, just lmk here or in dm
No I’m good. All I did was play a little before everyone else.
It would be cool to give Kanan his DL-18 pistol to use as a secondary weapon.
For Zeb, his accurate Bo-Rifle model is actually the AB-75 one, not the CJ-9 and if he could also switch it into quarterstaff position, it would be great to use that melee function of the Bo-Rifle.
For the Grand Inquisitor, really like the hilt, but having 2 blades is crucial for him.
The Ezra model is good and you could use the same abilities for his Season 3 appearance with his green lightsaber and DL-44.
And I see that you plan to improve the other heroes so more props to you.
I think the only starfighters missing on Lothal is just the U-Wing and the Grand Inquisitor's TIE Advanced Prototype. Don't mind seeing the Imperial patrol transport if you could get that into the map.
Maybe the AT-DPs could show up in addition to the other walkers and possibly the 614-AvA speeder bikes?
The Empire side could also use the Imperial combat drivers and Imperial cadets as trooper options.
Keep at it because I think eventually this map is going to better and better as you keep working on it.
I would've preferred doing the Imperial Complex in Capital City but this location is easily as enjoyable as that.
As you see with Ezra, having a pistol as a secondary weapon when you have a lightsaber results in just being able to quickly fire the pistol, not having it out full time. For Ezra it's fine, since it's an alt fire, bit with Kanan it wouldn't, as it's supposed to be a diff weapon entirely. Just the way the game works
Ik Zeb's weapon isn't the exact one he used. I just picked the model that was closest to it. Idk how to set up melee
Grand Inquisitor's blade didn't work when I set it up for 2 blades. It's a small thing so I didn't think it was worth the effort honestly. Also, he only uses one blade in the com tower episode anyway
This map is set up off a season 1 episode. It would be a little weird for me to have made a season 3 ezra then.
No u-wing model is publicly released that I know of (if you know of one, feel free to lmk the link), and the Imperial Patrol Transport also doesn't even exist as far as ik, released or not.
The only AT-DP there is is a prop, not a vehicle. As to speeder bikes and the advanced tie, it's worth pointing out that there are already well over a dozen vehicle types out there
As to the imperial driver and cadet, I stand by my sides. I added plenty of custom units and heroes as is. I could only have added one of them anyway, as I only had room for one more unit type anyway
This is likely (though not guaranteed) to be the last update for this map. I already spent A LOT of time on it considering the original version and this one.
This is not likely to be the only Lothal map I make, however. The area where the three hammerhead corvette's landed in season 2 is likely to be next, though capital city is not out of the question long term (though I was thinking more the fuel tank area that kanan died in)
UPDATE I have a better Sabine model working, and I will also likely get a Kallus model I found working, so expect an update in a few days with those things
Oh yeah!!! Glad you got it working :)
I really enjoyed the map! The rebels seem to be impossible to beat with how many tanks and command posts they have. I also never say the tie fighter with the cool skin you have in the images. Looking forward to the next update! (:
I'll take another look at the balancing for the next update for sure. As to the skinned tie fighter, read the description for info on the easter egg
Cool thanks. Also after I died, in the character select screen, it did not display anything besides the boxes of where you select them.
Did this happen once or repeatedly? I've not had this happen, so a screenshot would help, or any other details you may have.
Has anyone else had this happen?
This did not happen. Great map I have also looked at your other maps and they are all amazing!
