"Total War: Rise of Mordor" is an epic overhaul project based on "The Lord of the Rings". The visuals of the mod are based on films however the background story and rosters are accurate to the books.

EL5, please: that means that now they can both change map, and AI will reconise it? (And that should work from Rome II to Warhammer II?)

This looks incredible. Can't wait for the deluge of full-conversion mods for newer Total War games. I can already visualize a LotR mod for TWW2 replete with flying monster units and Nazgul mounts etc, GoT mods and maybe even a full world map mod for various eras. The possibilities are endless.

We will make sure to discourage people from doing IP maps for WH games because those are very strictly moderated and there's a very limited legit stuff you're allowed to do.
Literally all you are allowed to do has to be a part of WH universe.

That's so unfortunate however somewhat understandable. I guess we're going to have to wait for a while until we can get our hands on an engine that can both do everything we want it to do AND not be plagued by complicated legal trappings.

I suppose implementing TWW features such as flying mounts etc. in traditional TW titles is pretty much impossible without the actual dev kit though.

To my knowledge, Three Kingdoms and Troy engines both branched from Warhammer version of engine so it's likely all the stuff you listed is supported by those games (flying units etc)

Or perhaps someone creative will write up their own rich lore and world that fits well into the TW mechanics, similar to Prophesy of Pendor for MnB Warband.
