The Great War mod is a total conversion modification for Napoleon: Total War. It creates an authentic representation of World War 1-era tactics, strategies and general warfare within the game. Including stunning new visuals that include entirely new models and textures for equipment, vehicles and more, the mod immerses you into the era with brand new gameplay unlike anything you've experienced in Total War before.

The base replenishment rate has been lowered and the bonuses to replenishment from buildings and techs have also been reduced. For most of the campaign you will have only low or moderate replenishment. Once all buildings have been upgraded and certain techs have been researched you can get good replenishment.

Previously replenishment was set so high it only took a turn or 2 to get back to full strength. Now it can take up to 6 turns depending on how damaged the unit is.

Would it be more life-like to have rapidly replenishing armies? It shows how nations pumped manpower into the frontlines.

This is the only way to simulate the poor supply issues that occurred during the war. However this will force the player and AI to recruit more units to make up for the losses faster instead of only replying on replenishment.

more than anything else i think that you must reduce the range of movement of the armies, because in this way there is a greater stalemate and, for example to get to Paris, it takes much longer and not just 3 shifts

I hope it doesn't make gameplay excruciatingly painful because every turn you get to fight with 20 units of 40 men

To my knowledge Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden do not get any changes from v5 at this point.

Is the movement range reduced too? Id hate to see a single breakthrough lead to a total collapse before more troops can be raised.

Yes they have been reduced however if you upgrade the railroads it increases movement range a lot while on the roads.

Wanted to ask, as seen on Lord John's videos the machine guns were nerfed, although they were nerfed quite drastically, will you buff them a little?
I was thinking making them accurate like the rifles, but lowering their rate to make it kinda realistic one.
So the mg's won't make one straight fire but make pauses between shots?

Description

We have overhauled the replenishment system to drastically slow the amount of replenishment per turn to simulate the poor supply issues that caused trench warfare to occur on the western front and elsewhere during the war.
