The Great War mod is a total conversion modification for Napoleon: Total War. It creates an authentic representation of World War 1-era tactics, strategies and general warfare within the game. Including stunning new visuals that include entirely new models and textures for equipment, vehicles and more, the mod immerses you into the era with brand new gameplay unlike anything you've experienced in Total War before.
Here is a list of the faction specific military techs that come pre researched at the start of the campaign. These are intended to give each faction a slight difference in stats/bonuses. We were having an issue with this feature where the wrong tech was assigned to some factions but that has now been resolved.
These effects and values may be subject to change before the update releases.
France gets a pretty useless one. No cap.
I was having a hard time coming up with France's bonus. I'm open to suggestions tho.
France historically was the diplomatic center of the Allies and was arguably the most advanced of the Allies in terms of aviation, so the diplo and research bonuses you have match nicely. Maybe give them an extra agent (fighter) or something to represent the output of the aviation industry?
Yeah, something having to do with aeroplanes.
France's military doctrine was very much defined (at least conceptually) by a focus on mobility, offensive, and driving home the charge at bayonet point.
I would suggest a +5% bonus to melee and/or charge stats, in addition to what you already have.
Give Deutschland a special unit called "Erwin Rommel" to counter this.
Maybe a stretch, but the French 75mm was known for its high rate of fire, and it was definitely a widely produced and used piece. Maybe a slight boost to artillery cost and rate of fire?
Looks good! although I wonder if France and the minor faction boost would be better swapped? Likewise maybe make Italy more hybrid rather than just a worse Britain. Perhaps give the Italians one of the naval bonuses and then one land based bonus?
Maybe something with light infantry to reflect the Alpini?
Give the Italians melee bonus, the Arditi literally fought with knives at times.
The russian bonus seems a little bit op ... As well as the lower attrition which doesn't match with the high casualties the russians suffered historically due to attrition/bad supply
Also the austro-hungarian does seem underpowered, maybe add a reduction in infantry cost due to the high manpower they had
Actually, the Russians caused massive Austrian casualties during Przemysl, like 75% casualties where on Austrias side, cause Russia was far better.
