Dawn of the Tiberium Age (DTA) is a stand-alone mod that combines Tiberian Dawn (C&C 95) and Red Alert. While classic mode gets as close to the original game-play and balance as possible, Enhanced mode provides improved game balance and a lot of fun new stuff. DTA features many customization options for Skirmish and multiplayer (where you can play as GDI, Nod, Allies and Soviet on over 200 maps), challenging original singleplayer missions, as well as co-op missions. Since this is a stand-alone mod, you don't require anything but the mod itself to be able to play: the original game is not required.

Does this mean these missions are Coop only or can they be completed solo?

They're designed to be played with a human ally.

They can still be completed solo by hosting a LAN* game by yourself and giving yourself an AI ally. How useful that AI ally is will vary. It'll most likely be helpful in most base-building missions, but in micromanagement missions it'll do poorly.

We recommend grabbing a friend or finding one from our Discord server and doing the missions that way, but if you prefer them solo, the LAN-with-AI-ally option allows you to experience them that way.

* LAN is necessary because our Skirmish lobby disallows you from launching Co-Op missions, to make it clear that our Co-Op missions have been designed for human players.

Coop campaigns are the norm but have considered a versus campaign? Asymmetrical multiplayer story scenarios etc. In this case one or more players could have an early game unit advantage but need to base build quickly to not lose out in the late game, etc

We've brainstormed "PvP missions" or "asymmetrical PvP scenarios", but looking at what people play on our CnCNet lobby and what we get most activity on in social media etc., and what we also tend to enjoy most, it's clear that most of our fan-base prefers co-op.

While it's easy to have fun in co-op, a fun PvP experience usually requires the players to be of roughly equal skill level, which is relatively rare in the small C&C mod community.

Thus, the result of most PvP games can be figured out beforehand if you know the players who are playing.

We still haven't ruled out creating "PvP missions" in the future, but I think co-op will always stay as a bigger focus for us.

Description

Over the past decade, a lot of people have been asking us whether we'd remake the Tiberian Dawn campaigns. We haven't done that so far because

1) creating unique missions has been more interesting
2) it has been hard to draw the line on what we'd improve on the campaign (simply totally recreating the campaign wouldn't be worth it, because if you want the original, you can just go play the C&C Remaster)

However we've now started an effort to remake the Tiberian Dawn GDI campaign, with a slight twist: the campaign is now a 2-player co-op campaign rather than a traditional singleplayer campaign. This is the first mission of the campaign.

Depending on the reception of this co-op campaign idea, we might later also remake the Nod campaign and the Red Alert campaigns in the same manner. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments!
