Description

The Curry-class is at first glance an unremarkable vessel. Hastily designed and constructed in the 2320s, it was never intended to be a state-of-the-art ship, and was constructed entirely out of existing components from both the Excelsior and Miranda-class starship lines. The modest Curry was built for the humble purpose of supporting Federation colonies and starbases by ferrying supplies, equipment and personnel between worlds and outposts. To this end, much of the space in its secondary hull is made up of cargo bays, with the unusually-placed saucer section providing habitation for crew and passengers. The Curry has become a reliable part of Starfleet's logistics division.

With war on the horizon, however, a new purpose for the Curry has been found. With minimal effort its cargo bays have been converted into hangars well suited for housing and maintaining squadrons of Starfleet's Peregrine-class defence fighters or Danube-class runabouts. While both of these small strike craft are warp capable, their small warp drives prevent them from keeping up with fleets on the move. As such, the Curry serves ideally as a cruiser-sized carrier vessel.

Furthermore, the Curry's passenger compartments have been converted into barracks for small compliments of Federation Marines. These specially trained tactical officers are experts in close-quarters combat, making them perfectly suited to boarding enemy ships or securing lightly defended installations.
