A speck darting across the shadows of the Romulan Star Empire, the Talon-class scout ship is a fast, stealthy reconnaissance and courier ship, and one of the smallest starships in the Empire - and one of the most useful. Entering service just before the mighty D'deridex warbird, the Talon is used to spy on friend and foe alike, monitoring the Empire's enemies from afar, and ensuring that no act of disloyalty in the Empire goes unnoticed. The Talon is also entrusted with running messages deemed too sensitive to transmit to important members of the Romulan government and military - a task which in itself ensures that each and every member of a Talon scout's small crew is chosen carefully for their loyalty, obedience and discretion.
The Romulans understand better than anyone else that knowledge is power. To understand your enemy is to master him, and in understanding the movements of the Empire's enemies the Talon has no equal. While not designed for deep infiltration of enemy territory like the larger Shrike, the Talon serves as the eyes of the Imperial Navy, guiding the fleet into a position where it can strike the enemy most effectively, and obliterate him.
