The stand-alone mod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly aims to be the most stable and customizable experience for fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. It's powered by the Monolith 64-bit engine, a custom fork of the X-Ray engine.
Ever wanted to punish an enemy that was bold enough to brag about their actions using social media? Ever seen a message asking for help but couldn't find the person that needed it? Some guy just found a powerful artifact, and you desire to take it for yourself? Fanatics from monolith just publicly executed one of your friends? You wish to start your own hunt for some people in the top stalkers list? If you desire to find them all and take action, the only thing you will need is their name.(And any PDA)
Using this addon, you can find and track any active stalker anywhere on the map.
For balance purposes(or more like, because it's easier to code), you can only track one person at a time.
To use the tracking tool, you need to open your PDA and press [switch firing mode] key (0 by default)
Then type the name of your target into the textbox and press ok.
You can cancel the task by pressing the same [switch firing mode] key while tracking is active.
If the target dies, you lose the signal.
Video demonstration (older version of this addon):
You can install this addon by placing files manually, or, what is more recommended, using MO2 or JSGME.
To change the addon's settings you will need to also have installed the Anomaly Mod Configuration Menu.
Moddb.com
The Mod Configuration Menu addon shouldn't be required, but i haven't tested the game without it, so, if you don't have that addon, tell me if you get mcm-related error messages or if anything goes wrong regarding my addon's settings.
It seems to work fine on Anomaly version 1.5.2, but i mainly play in 1.5.1, so i don't know for sure if any version-specific issues might appear after playing for a longer amount of time.
This addon is somewhat overpowered, because most npcs automatically send public messages about a lot of their important actions. I'm not sure what i want to do about that yet.
If you install the addon and load a save where you already have a rank high enough to unlock the tool, just wait 50 seconds to get the special message that will unlock it for you.
v1.0: (download link: Drive.google.com)
-The first version of the addon, featuring tracking any living stalker by name. No extra features like options or balancing.
v1.1 (Balance and Settings Update | download link: Drive.google.com):
-Added MCM options.
-Added requirement to reach a specific player rank to unlock the tracking tool. (Might take some time for the unlocking message to show up after you reach the necessary rank.)
-Made low tier PDA's fail to track high rank stalkers
-Added cost for using the tracking service.
-Added some messages that appear when using the tracking tool. No real effect on the gameplay, they are here just for extra flavor. Can be disabled by setting "Message decay" to 0.
-Added messages that tell if the stalker you are looking up exists, but is also dead.
-Changed task type to "storyline" to make the task map marker stand out among the generic tasks. Can be reversed back to white by changing the "storyline" value to false in the tm_tracking_stalker.ltx file
-Added a workaround for Russian players being unable to look up names containing the letter "Ё". Now the system will read letter "Е" as if it was "Ё", so to look up a name like "Санёк", just type "Санек."
v1.2:
-Minor text adjustments.
-Changed MCM input box variable type from string to float. This should prevent users from entering invalid input like words and symbols into textboxes that expect numbers.
(This was mainly added as an attempt to fix the issue with some players crashing on load. Even if it won't work, at least it should give a different error and lead me closer to the source of the problem.)

Payment and messages when using the tool
Side Notes:
-This addon is getting complex enough to the point where i have to use github to track all the changes i make. Obviously, with such complexity i can't notice every single problem that might appear, so expect errors.
-The messages i added don't have any checks for your or enemy faction, nor checks for special npcs, so at some point they might break your immersion by doing something like calling Hip a man. If you don't like them, just set Message decay to 0 and it will disable them.
-You should change the player rank requirement setting before you load your save, because once you unlock the tool in that save, you can't make it locked again.
-If you reach the required rank, and then happen to save and load, or change maps, you might need to wait like 50 seconds before the message that unlocks the tool will appear on the screen. Otherwise you can get the message prematurely by pressing the [switch firing mode] key while holding your PDA.
-If you set the price too high, it might not display properly in some cases.
-I couldn't figure out how to add an option to change the keybind, but it shouldn't be that big of a problem, as you still can change the keybind of the [switch firing mode] function. Not the most convenient way, but there's not much i can do about it yet.
-I know the messages on the side are hard to read, and this stash UI doesn't look that fitting, and i even found a somewhat proper way to edit that UI, but i don't have the required amount of sanity left to keep working to change it, so for now we will have to stay with the current result.
-I tried changing the map marker to a red square-shaped target icon, but it seems to be impossible without ruining compatibility with some map-related files, so instead i just changed task type to storyline to make the marker stand out more.
-I have no clue what happens to the messages during the Emission, but even if the emission somehow prevented you from getting the tool unlocking message, the tool itself should still be unlocked at some point after you reach the correct rank.
-I found that game statistics file is mentioning reputation loss when cancelling tasks, which might mean that using the tool might make you lose a little reputation(-25, compared to +100 from completing tasks). But i'm not sure if it actually works that way, because the emission task is being cancelled the exact same way, so it would mean that you could just randomly lose reputation from certain actions during emissions.
Either way, it's too easy to gain reputation to care about it, and, with the newly added dialog, i think it actually fits my addon more if you lose a little bit of rep from using it, as you are basically ruining privacy of every single person in the Zone. They have all the rights to hate you for it.
-I haven't tested the addon in warfare mode, so try it at your own risk.
If you happen to like my addons so much you want to give me money:
I've been told that some people like donating money to modders, and i should try setting up a donation link for myself. So here we are.
Boosty.to
It might be not the most convenient way, but here in Russia we unfortunately don't have that many other ways available right now, due to the you-know-what-crazy-situation.
Also, if you're actually going to donate, make sure the donation sum won't negatively impact your well-being, because i have no clue if i can refund that.

interesting.. :O
*Picks Jaw up from the floor* Simple and effective!
Go wild dude! That is actually a mod that I never thought about but needed, the amount of times I read that someone needs a guide or found something and me not being able to find that NPC was astounding.
EDIT: A unique Icon for the tracked person would be cool!
I thought of making the icon and task description correspond to the target, but decided against it because i thought that it would be nice to have a bit of uncertainty.
However, if people really want this, i might try to add that function later, after i take a little break.
Also, thanks for your kind words, to you and everybody else commenting under my addons.
Just an Icon would be nice to be able to differentiate your set target with missions, in the end it would just get rid of searching in the task bar or the map for your set target. One could either use a different color with the same symbol like the main missions to normal missions do or, what I would most likely do, use a square target icon ^^
if there's an addon about upgrade-able PDA, imagine the possibilities.
Nice! Could be a nice addition to add optionally to track only friend or neutral stalkers.
Track everyone or enemies makes no sense for me and makes "easy"... Or maybe track not so "precise" and get only a "zone". Anyways, some optional configuration with MCM could be so nice!!
I don't know if i can make zones, but instead i could just make the task instantly end after starting. That way, it will only produce a temporary and hardly noticeable signal that will last about 3-5 seconds and then disappear.
For now, restricting the tracking capabilities can be done by yourself manually by simply not looking up the name if you find out that the target is from an enemy faction. You can also immediately cancel the mission yourself to only see the pings instead of constanly tracking the target the whole time.
I will think about this more later, after i take a break and get some free time from work.
Yeah, that's an option.
But It's a nice idea to "get more use" to "PDAs". Mark only neutral/friends could be manualy ofc but could be great for get "alive" all these messages "I need a..." for neutrals, to get there and talk, it has very potential! That's my suggestions :)
Niiiice work!
there´s always someone asking for a guide to some location. This could be use to ask for other random tasks, as some easy money for those hardcore runs.
i think this mod is an excelent idea full of posibilites
This is an awesome idea and I can't wait to track some fools down!.
This is such a cool idea man!
you should give this feature to scientists, so we can pay them to track someone; it's too easy to track everyone just from the pda and for free
I was thinking of making it a paid service working by contacting Snitch and transferring the money online.
That guy literally has contacts that can track down legendary stalkers from the top 10 list, even if they are monolith members hiding at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The price would probably be increasing according to the target's rank.
But first i will have to figure out how to properly change elements of that "create a stash" UI i copied from the game.
Great idea!
omg please yes
literally doxxing, but instead of online harassment its first degree murder
I mean, they are almost asking to be murdered.
Murdering is not illegal in The Zone btw hehe
We dont murder we survive
Could you make it so the message shows a random generated radio frequency and then you use the rf receiver with that frequency to track the stalker. Maybe add the marker on the map when you get close enough and only if you have a pda 2.0
I could try learning how to do it, but it would require a lot of work and making this extra feature compatible with other radio-related addons. Also, some people wouldn't like it, so i would also have to implement Mod Configuration Menu addon functionality.
Therefore i can give no promises of that happening any time soon.
a wilt has't modification, most wondrous job!
Cool idea, sadly can't type Stalker names in Cyrillic.
Are you sure? If it's a problem with switching the language try doing it with shift + ctrl.
At least that's what works for me in windows 7.
huh,weird... I tried shift+ctrl and also tried setting Ru as default,I'm also on win 7. gonna try again.
Upd.
So,yeah, doesn't work for me on Rus version of Anomaly, tried ctrl+shift, tried setting Ru as default keyboard language, still types in Latin (English) in game.
Anomaly has a problem with accepting cyrillic characters when not on a windows locale that supports them by default. For example, I couldn't name my characters with cyrillic letters even though I play the game in russian, and have russian as a keyboard language in windows. Changing windows locale to russian helped with that. The issue you're facing might be the same in its nature.
Windows locale already set to Russian.
Just to clarify, I'm talking about the "System Locale For Non-Unicode Programs", not the language your windows is displayed in. Click Start, then Control Panel. Click "Clock, Language and Region" and pick Region and Language. Click the Administrative tab. "Language for non-Unicode programs" should be set to "Russian (Russia)".
Hope this helps.
Imgbox.com
This ?
Yeah, setting that to russian helped me with the name thing. Looks like it doesn't help with your issue though, sorry.
Damn, sorry to hear that, i'm not sure if i can fix this problem on my side.
This is awesome idea to make addon like this one...10/10,thx budy!!
Great idea in need of development, by you or with help from others.
How about a rare and expensive single-use 'signal tracer' device, that reveals and tracks for a few hours the position of the stalker responsible for the last radio message broadcasted?
Just a quick idea but basically to say: develop this into a simple but smart and balanced system because it's worth it.
Sorry, i personally can't promise anything of that kind any time soon.
It's probably possible to track broadcasted messages by editing news_manager.script.
However making the item itself would likely take too much work. I would have to learn how to make new items, add existing or make new models/icons for them, and also to make it possible to get this item from someone or somewhere. It just doesn't feel like it would be worth the effort.
I spent literally over a month to program and test just this and the other 2 addons i uploaded, and that's considering they were simplified as much as possible to make development easier.
Instead of making the item, i could try to just add a "track position of last broadcasted message into the pda menu", but this would take some time too, as it will have to become an optional thing, and i still need to learn how to properly implement Mod Configuration Menu into my addons.
Also, since it requires editing news_manager.script, it is likely to break compatibility with a lot of addons that modify or use it, which means i would have to make and maintain compatibility patches.
Certainly, I understand and absolutely no pressure - our real life time is a precious commodity.
My remark is just to indicate this has a serious potential for taking advantage of Stalker's unique simulated ecology system to become a legit game mechanic.
If you'd ever come to that, the answer to the first problem may be that it's only possible via pda3 and also has a long cooldown timer between uses so that it can't be constantly abused. Maybe eats an entire battery upon use.
The second one could simply be solved by DLTX.
I suggest you make this feature only for PDA 3.0 for the same balance and incentive to pump the PDA.
Or in the form of an object (flash drive) with a program (tracking function), which you can buy from scientists, for example, and download to your PDA
I think at the moment it's unnecessary to limit this feature using code, as players could simply refrain from using it at lower versions of the PDA themselves. That gives you freedom to play or challenge yourself however you want.
I might make it just a bit harder to track people with low tier PDA's just so the players would have an extra reason to upgrade them, but also wouldn't get completely locked out of this feature for a long time until they reach mid-endgame.
Regarding making an object, i don't have the skill, nor the knowledge of how to add new items to the game.
I prefer to let the players do the small mental work by themselves wherever it's possible and takes little or no effort. That lets me have more free time to work on things that can't be "roleplayed".
i love that guy
This is just so good!
No longer will I get mad at bandits for picking up good artifacts, now they're just giving themselves a death sentence :D
Oh we thank you, oh Monolith, giving us the power to track your enemies!
May your holy light show mercy upon the lost souls of darkness!
Towards brothers to victory and fight for the Monolith!
Will it work with 1.5.2??
I tested it for like 15 minutes, and it seems to work fine on Anomaly 1.5.2, but i mainly play in 1.5.1, so i don't know for sure if any version-specific issues might appear after playing for a longer amount of time.
Las letras Mayúsculas no me aparecen :(
Sorry, but i have no idea how to help with that problem.
This might be some kind of a language conflict with the program, if you are playing stalker in Spanish, or it could be an issue with language settings on your computer.
bueno si lo estoy jugando en español, en fin. De todas maneras recomendable tu aporte 10/10
Igual hay una traduccion Moddb.com
this has so much potential
It would be nice if yo had to pay a small price to do so maybe depending on the rank of the target or use locator token type thing that you can buy but this is cool as is to
Agreed. I think this mod has a huge gameplay potential if it can be developed into a balanced mechanic (meaning: have a cost / cooldown attached to it)
Chool, I know you may not be able to so no pressure, but just throwing an idea out there:
you know what could work in a simple but more balanced way?
Instead of showing the exact position on the map with real life tracking, let the script check for any other stalkers in the x vicinity and if confirmed - let it simply give back a message with npcs general position and travel direction as snitched on my others, ie: 'misha terrible last spotted in garbage, heading south'.
Yeah, that should be possible, but, as always, no promises of making it any time soon. I got a lot of different ideas that i want to try out and learn how to make them; if i find any success, i might just add all of them and make them optional, but that's gonna take a ton of time.
I actually love your idea, just making tracking slightly vague and message based, i can already imagine the dialogs in the message network:
Your character: Hey guys, have you seen Yurka Parachute anywhere? I heard he needed some help.
Somebody else: Yeah, last time i've seen him, he was south of the Kopachi Village.
Yurka Parachute: You *******, why did you snitch on me?! He's not here to help, he's our enemy!
Or:
Your character: I heard that Artyom Gray from Monolith is a real coward and runs away at the first sight of a couple of boars.
Artom Gray: You insolent dog, you will pay for your words. If you're feeling so brave, meet me at the Jupiter Factory Complex and say it to my face.
I get so many cool ideas, it's such a shame all of it takes so much time to not only program and test, but also write and translate all these dialogs and menu options.
Ha, there you go.
In an ideal world I'd make the rationale and barks simple, so that it seems like you're paying some anonymous opportunist to snitch, like a bounty.
So:
1. you type the name of your victim
2. system searches for other npcs within 'x' vicinity. If found:
3. it returns with a rng price that you have to pay for the tip. It's what the anonymous snitch demands for the info.
4. If you accept and pay (instant, zone paypal), you receive an anonymous radio message of the sort:
- "He's in Garbage now, heading south. This never happened", or
- "Yantar. Travelling north. He's a bastard, I'd have done it for free."
- "Wild Territory. This isn't personal... I just need the money."
And agreed going forward - no promises, no expectations. Have fun!
I second this idea. I'm in love with the mod, but the balance does feel off. I like the idea you've both come up with.
