No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own... ulla ulla ulla ulla... Solar Worlds at War is a mod that takes inspiration from the War of The World Mythos and aims to build off it. It also takes inspiration from Edisons Conquest of Mars, the 1950s WOTW movie, WOTW Goliath, and various other SciFi stories from the early 20th century. Humanity has survived, the Martian Invasion force has failed and died off due to bacteria, and technology has rapidly advanced due to the Martian Technology being reverse engineered. But as time has passed since the original invasion, a new dark force grows as the Martians plan a second invasion, meanwhile Earth builds its own war machines and space force, and the Great Martian Wars are about to begin!
The Martian equivalent of a light tank, the Light Fighting machine, also known as the Martian Scout or Patrol machine, was a lighter version of their standard fighting machine.
Originally the main tank of the Martians, new advancements in technology rendered this machine outclassed by their 19th century fighting machine. Although outclassed, it ended up getting many upgrades, specifically in its engine unit that allowed it to be 5 times faster than the standard fighting machine, and lighter alloys increased this to 6 times at the expense of armor.
This speed bonus in turn allowed the Martians to use the Light fighting machine as one of their scouting/patrol machines on various battlefields.
Additionally on worlds like the IO moon where the crust is thin and easy to break, the Martians would utilize these machines instead of their main machines.
Weapon wise, it carries either a light heatray, built into the fin on top of the head, although it can also carry a second light heatray in its tentacle.
Modwise these will be the Martian scouts. Their weapons will be quite weaker compared to the main fighting machine, along with a smaller pool of hp, but in return they will be quite fast.
Please note that this model is still a WIP, and that I still need to make its legs and some other minor details, and then apply a texture.
Also note that this Martian tripod is based off the tripods seen in the 1898 illustrations of War of the Worlds:

2 legs? strange for a martian machine in the tripod style
It will have 3 legs, I just didnt post a picture of the 3 legs as back in april i still didnt have the model finished. The 2 things you see are tentacles. Here is how the full tripod will look:
