SmoothBlood

This is a modification for Blood which allows playing the game with smoother weapon animations. This mod supports all so far modern ways of playing Blood, which are NBlood, Raze, BloodGDX and Fresh Supply. DOS version is not supported.

To be sure that the mod works correctly, make sure you've got the latest version of any of these ports. NBlood latest compiled builds can be downloaded from here Lerppu.net

Did you consider doing the same for enemies? Like what Smooth Doom did.

I did consider that, yes. But that's more work than you think it is. The only enemy I made fully "smooth" is a Stormtrooper from Dark Forces game. I used "DAIN_APP Alpha" to interpolate sprites and then I manually edited imperfections. That was a lot work and it's not something I consider doing for Blood. But... as the saying goes, never say never.

love the mod! the only thing that bothers me a bit is when you use akimbo with the alpha shotgun, the little shotguns look too cute for caleb :D

Great mod!
I just found a little oddity, when using the mod with NBlood (most recent version), it makes the demo go out of sync.
I wonder if it affects any other feature of the game (gameplay).

Of course it will cause a desync of demos. Smoother animations are at most 99% accurate to the vanilla ones when it comes to timings. Nothing else should be affected by that.

And after all, you're using a mod. Using any mod for Blood will likely cause a demo desync ;).

> Smoother decorations, projectiles or enemies are planned too.

I wonder if this is still planned. Flowframes works wonders but it’s usually done before upscaling & post-processing (or at least after upscaling but before post-processing, i.e. palettising and adding dithering)

I think I have to remove that statement. It's certainly possible for enemies as I can move vanilla sprites to a new tilenum range and add new interpolated sprites between them (animation metadata is stored in SEQ file), but if at least one mod/addon uses specific tilenum range, there will be a conflict (I kinda managed to avoid that with SmoothBlood or my other addons with using high tilenums).

However, smooth projectiles and decorations are not possible. There's no way replace specific animation with a new one.

Smooth enemies would be awesome. Major fan-made Blood add-ons are quite few (sadly!), I wonder if a script could be made that would automatically scan through a bunch of .grp files and print out the vacant tile ranges that aren’t used by any of them.

The only thing I have against this mod is that the regular shot gun looks bad with the hand.

This is why there's also version without the hand. Read the readme to know how to active it.
