A total reimagining of Half-Life: Uplink that will take you through a plethora of cut locations during the final stages of the Black Mesa incident.

Report RSS One year later...

Today marks exactly one year since I released the first chapter of Signal Lost, and in that time, the mod has completely exceeded my expectations & then some. Here's a small update article to briefly explain what's going to be happening, and to of course show a little bit of chapter 2!

Time sure does fly. Oh baby, it does.

Today marks exactly one year since I released the first chapter of Signal Lost, and in that time, the mod has completely exceeded my expectations & then some. The first release has been downloaded, played, and enjoyed by thousands of people from all over the world, and the feedback I have received has me very, very optimistic for the future of Signal Lost. I wanted to write up this small update article to briefly explain what's going to be happening, and to of course show a little bit of chapter 2!

Now... about that status report I owed ya.

For all of 2022 up to September, I was working constantly on Signal Lost: Uplink. Every level for chapter 2 has been started in some form. Some are further along than others, while others are fully playable. All levels are at the very least, at a point where they can be compiled with no issue.

Chapter 2 of Signal Lost is absolutely gigantic. As of right now, its over twice as large as the first chapter, and is structured around 3 major areas that the player can approach in a non-linear manner. All of these levels amount to 3 smaller chapters worth of gameplay.

The main objective of Uplink revolves around transmitting the "ALL CLEAR" signal to the USNRC in order to override the lockdown on the X-Lab emergency entrance contained within the Auxiliary Site. In order to complete this objective, the player will visit a host of new areas, all linked together via the Primary Communications Facility you enter at the end of chapter 1. Here's a look at a few of the areas you'll get to visit during your journey! All are work-in-progress, and subject to change.

SECTOR F - ARCHIVAL LABS

"The Archival labs were a bustling hub of research & innovation, home to Sector F's topside research division, and selective research into sonic weaponry. Accessed through the primary communications site, both sites were equally responsible for the maintenance of the primary communications array overlooking the facility."

DATA CONTROL - PRIMARY POWER & CORE SUBSYSTEMS

"Data Control houses the core subsystems that power the array, and the facility above. Two massive generator halls, each with their own respective generator, alongside the control station overlooking both."

They couldn't pay me enough to work down there. No way.

That's all I'm willing to spoil this time! I promise the next article will stack the weight, I'd really love to show off some gameplay & some of the sequences I've created, there's some seriously awesome stuff I've got in store for next year.

I can't believe it's been a year. It feels like just yesterday I was locking down the first demo for release.

When the new year hits, I plan to work on Signal Lost: Uplink until it is done. I can't say for sure when that'll be, but I hope to have it out in time for Summer of 2023. In the end, I'll take as long as it takes to ensure things are as good as they can get before I even so much as consider releasing something. In our limited vocabulary, I simply cannot describe the amount of planning & time that goes into these things. For the rest of 2022, I will be working on Starlight, so expect a few updates for that soon-ish! In the meantime, if you want to catch up on what I've been making for Starlight & Signal Lost, I regularly show off development over in my community on Discord! Feel welcome to stop by & join the conversation! Show off your work, your art, all that good stuff!

Thank you all so much for your unending support towards my work. I just can't put it into words how grateful I am. You've all made me the happiest witch on the boiling isles. <3

Happy birthday Signal Lost!
I haven't replayed it in a few months... all the better because things are more fun to replay when you forgot some of it.
Goes without saying that the new content looks very appetising and wonderful. How do you manage to be so cool?!

Along with The Core mod this is visually some of the most impressive utilization of the Goldsrc that I've seen.

Very impressive work! I and many people will definitely be excited to see where this goes. Something that would be really cool would be if you expanded upon the the fact that the zombies became more intelligent as time went on where they started setting traps and gathering corpses to feed on. Having a small chapter similar to Ravenholm, but where the zombies are the ones setting the traps would definitely be awesome. Good luck on the mod and your other thing.
