Doom 3 was ground breaking in its day. I loved it, it still is a good game and it needs some decent love.

I'm gonna try and make things look a little better,

So I'm re sculpting all of the major models weapons monsters and NPC, to give the game a better more current look starting with BFG edition where we can have 4k maps and nice lighting I will author to this first then on out to vanilla where we have higher limitation however from there I can easily port over to Doom 3 4 quest.

I will NOT be reusing the current textures and leveling deepening and over saturating or sharpening stuff like most of these tweaked mods, in my honest opinion they can make the game look not only worse but downright horrible. I promise completely custom built stuff, I hope you guys will like it.

if you are not going to finish the project at least make the models you already finished available specially for the Dhewm source port they look awesome!!! PLEASE!!!

Finally a modder I can relate to. I agree. I have not created any custom upscales of any form for Doom 3, as of this comment. I do intend to get into 3D modeling applications like Blender (among others) someday. But for now, I am very impressed with what can be achieved on an overall visual scale (atmosphere, lighting, models, textures, color depth, decals, polycounts, etc) with Doom 3 Retail's engine, without any modifications or enhancements added. It's truly jaw-dropping what you can get out of Vanilla Doom 3's engine by simply entering the right mix of "seta commands" into the "autoexe.cfg" file & finding that perfect balance overall. In my honest opinion, IdTech4 is iD's greatest of all their in-house engines.

Really looking forward to this mod. I hope it sees the light of day and doesn't end up getting canned. Cheers to your journey & success!

Ok Guys thank you for all the positives, lets get things movin again over the next few weeks! I'll start slow to get some momentum in my motivation and I'll work on getting the weapon models finished, I think I need to break down the project into stages as every time I picked it up over the last year I was absolutely boggled by the scale of what I was trying to achieve. But I have procrastinated long enough.

First thing I need to work on is going back and revisiting my process for getting things into the game, retrofitting brand new models into the old engine and getting them working isn't as easy as it sounds lots of extra steps. I'll stop by in a few days and update.
