Resistance:

This story takes place after the events in Half-Life. You are Gordon Freeman. After you defeated the Nihilanth and ended the alien invasion of Earth, you're transported to another place where you finally meet the Administrator of the Black Mesa Research Facility. He congratulates you on a job well done, and offers you a job. He doesn't say what the job is, just that if you refuse you'll die. The overconfident administrator believes that after being stripped of your weapons, and also after the recent battle in Xen, you no longer have the strength or the desire to fight, so he didn't bring along a bodyguard. Big mistake. You feel that the Administrator is partially or totally responsible for the accident, and probably is also the one who gave the orders for the military cleanup of Black Mesa. You remember all of the lives lost because of him. It would be better to die than to work for this monster. You pretend to accept his offer, so you walk over to the portal and while pretending to enter it, you knock the administrator unconscious with a quick blow to the head. You search him, and discover a small device in his suit that controls the portals. You then open up a new portal and put the administrator into it. It sends him to the refuge of what's left of Xen's forces, the same place he would have sent you if you refused his offer. The administrator wakes up to see that he's surrounded by alien grunts. He frantically searches for his device, but doesn't find it. As the portal slowly closes, you hear the laughter of alien grunts and the administrator giving out a blood-curdling scream. Finally, justice is served. You then open up a portal to earth, where you hope to return home and get some well-deserved rest. You take along his briefcase, which may contain some useful material. Unfortunately, the government had witnessed the administrator's death through a tiny camera placed on the train. They then send out a military special forces unit to find and kill you to prevent you from telling your story to the world. Meanwhile, you and seven other survivors from the Black Mesa research facility, five scientists and two security guards, take refuge in an old, small, underground complex located in Black Mesa. You and your comrades figure Black Mesa is the last place the military would look for you. A few days after your return to Earth, the special forces unit captures a scientist, who knows your location, and managed to "persuade" him to tell them the location of the complex. Shortly afterwards, they assault the complex and begin eliminating its inhabitants. You wake up with the sound of gunfire and the screaming of your comrades. With your few days of rest, you have regained your strength and are ready for more action.

Resistance 2:

After you eliminated the special forces unit and escaped the complex in an explorer, you have an opportunity to open the administrator's briefcase. Inside you discover a miniature computer, a pistol, and some documents pertaining to a small government research facility located in Fort Defiance, Arizona. The documents describe plans for further experiments to be done at this facility. Experiments aimed at finding a way to control Xen life forms. If they succeed they will have their own alien army, they would be able to use it to destroy anything or anyone they wanted and blame it on rogue Xen aliens. You decide you can't allow this to happen. You search the administrator's computer and find an image of the retina of his eye. You plan a night raid against the facility to put a stop to these experiments. Unfortunately, since the facility was built into the face of a mountain, you were unable to perform much reconnaissance, so you are unaware that the facility is heavily defended by the military. You arrive as planned and use the administrator's retina image on a retina scanner by the back door of the facility. Unfortunately, the government knowing about the administrator's death and your possession of his computer, removed his access to government facilities. Luckily, you have a plan B, you've brought along some explosives you obtained from the special forces unit. You place it near the door and prepare to detonate it. Your goal is to survive and reach the other end of the facility. When you get there you have to activate the self destruct system and escape before the facility is destroyed. After the facility is eliminated the government will be unable to duplicate the experiments. Good Luck. You will encounter a few different kinds of non-hostiles in the facility, some will be allies in your mission to stop the experiments, others won't. When the military realizes that you have allies in the facility they will attempt to execute them as well.

Resistance 3:

After you activated the facility's self-destruct, you escaped through a teleporter. You are knocked unconscious in the transport that ends up taking you to the Borderworld of Xen. You wake up in a unusual building with your HEV suit and all of your weapons missing, apparently lost in the transport. Shortly after the destruction of the facility, the military forces on Xen were ordered to start a genocide campaign against all sentient Xen life. "What we can't control, we'll destroy", sort of thing. Since the death of the Nihilanth, the aliens have become demoralized and unorganized, and easy prey for the military. Unfortunately, that's going to change. An alien controller by the name of Nexus has recently taken command of Xen and is starting to unite the alien forces against the military. He is becoming more powerful by the day and is starting to take the place of the Nihilanth. If Xen's forces unite under Nexus they will outnumber the military and are capable of overpowering them. If the military is defeated and Nexus survives, Earth can be invaded once again. It's your job to make sure that doesn't happen. Your mission is to fight through both sides, find Nexus and terminate him. When he realizes that you're coming for him, he will taunt you. You must also face another Bigmomma monster. She's not as tough as her predecessor Gonarch, but she is still quite powerful.
