Just over 2 months down the line with the revised Yuri faction and we already have far more than we did this time last year and it is much more consistent as a faction, as this comparison shot nicely shows!
We are at a point now where we have got everything modelled and textured that we need apart from two units and now that we have collapse models and damage textures working, focus is now on making our existing content turn into its own scrap metal rather than scrap metal of other vehicles.
Hopefully when the current build is polished some more and balance has been adjusted, we will post another skirmish match to rival the old one we posted last year.
Despite the progress we have made and how far we have come, there is still much to do before we can consider a rough release date, balance being only one of those concerns but rest assured we have no intention of picking up another sledge hammer to demolish everything we have once again, what is here is here to stay!
Lately two questions have been asked time over time. Almost every Red Alert 3 mod has to face this one. "Will you add Uprising units?", in our case, yes we will add the Archer Maiden as a build able unit. This is because it performs a balanced and useful task for the Empire. Uprising units like the Giga Fortress will not be included for being a balance nightmare and generally making almost everything else the Empire has at tier 3 completely irrelevant.
The other big question is do we plan on adding new content to the existing Red Alert 3 factions. The answer is, minus the above, no in terms of adding new content or remaking existing content. We are likely to balance all factions as and where needed and possible change the gameplay pace slightly if we feel it is necessary. This is because we feel that on a whole Red Alert 3 was a good game and little needs remaking. If you were hoping that this mod would add Yuri and remove the cartoony vibe of the existing game, then stop watching us. All of the dev team have other things to be working on after Synergy, most notably Advance Wars Frontline and Red Alert 3 Paradox, both of which have more potential as long lasting multiplayer community driven games.
Speaking of community, be sure to drop by our forums and introduce yourself and get some discussion going so that when we do release there will already be a somewhat active forum making matchmaking much easier and enjoyable.
Stay tuned for more updates, (our Facebook page is a good place to get early updates) and be sure check out our other mod, Advance Wars Frontline, we have a playable beta out!
