Major RealRTCW 2.2 update is finally here!

Hello everyone! It's been a while, but as promised, I'm releasing RealRTCW 2.2 this year.

FAQ:

I) How to install this mod?

1. You need to own legit RTCW copy. This mod is working perfectly with Steam and GOG versions. If you have CD version you need to patch it to the latest 1.41 version.

2. Download core mod archive and unzip it somewhere.

3. Copy "z_realrtcw.pk3" file into your "Main" RTCW directory. This is core mod content file.

4.Choose either x64 or x86 executables and dlls. Copy content of "x86" or "x64" folder into your root rtcw folder.

This is how your folders should look like:

ROOT RTCW folder:

RTCW "Main" folder:

rtcwinstall2 1


5. Launch the game from either "RealRTCW.x86.exe" or "RealRTCW.x86_64.exe".

6. Enjoy!

II) Help! I got strange error "BG_Index x for string: unknown token 'tt33: (models/players/bj2/wolfanim.script, line 9)".

You launcing wrong .exe (WolfSP.exe). Launch mod from its own RealRTCW exe file.

III) Resolution is looking stretched. FOV is too close. Game is in windowed mode.

Launch the game, go to "Options"------> "System" ------>"Graphics". After that set your resolution to Auto, it will automatically set your Native resolution.

Also you need to set "Fixed aspect" option to either widescreen or 4:3 depending on your aspect ratio. Widescreen is set by default.

If your game is launching in windowed mode simply set "Fullscreen" to yes.

IV) When I pickup grenades I have dynamite icon, but I can't select it.

I am aware of this phantom dynamite icon bug. Just ignore it.

V) "Copy Console log to clipboard" crash on startup.

Something wrong with your RTCW version - its either not legit or not patched. If error still persists try to uninstall everything related to RTCW and install it again.

What's new?


-Overhauled difficulty system to satisfy both new and experienced players. Your maximum health and ammo capacity depends on the difficulty level. Enemies accuracy,health and reaction time depends on it as well. In vanilla game all this stuff was the same for every difficulty level.

It looks something like this now:

Easy - Full health, increased ammo capacity, increased pickups values, low AI accuracy, low AI health

Medium - Full health, standard ammo capacity, standard pickups values, medium AI accuracy, medium AI health

Hard - 3/4 health, lowered ammo capacity, low pickups values, increased AI accuracy, medium AI health

Death Incarnate - 1/2 health, low ammo capacity, low pickups values, insane AI accuracy, increased AI health

Also some balance tweaks were done:

Pistols fire rate increased
G43 and M1_Garand damage increased
Sprint speed increased
MP40 fire rate decreased
PPSH fire rate increased
MP34 mag increased to 32, fire rate increased
FG42 zoom increased
Mauser rifle damage decreased for AI
AI cant do headshot on player now
Armor protection value slightly increased
Gib health increased to avoid silly gibbing

-Reworked UI. Old interface was fine, but not very comfortable. Me and AidenDemon did some tweaks to make it shine. Loadscreen were redone from scratch by AidenDemon. UI is fully compatible with both widescreens and 4:3 ratios.

-New weapon textures

As I mentioned before, I was able to get in touch with professional texture artist. I asked him to improve some of the RealRTCW weapon textures. Some of them were simply upscaled and improved, and some of them were done from scratch. Here is some screenshots:

-Renderer2 is fully compatible with RealRTCW now. You can use new iortcw renderer with RealRTCW. All crashes were fixed. All screenshots were taken with the new renderer. Renderer specific CVARS were added in the main menu.

-New Brass effect ported from Enemy Territory. Shells vectors were changed, shells ground impact sounds added.

-New weapons - reworked M97 Shotgun and Revolver. M97 got a new model and custom set of animations to fit the unique reloading mechanic.

If core game is not enough RealRTCW 2.2 is coming along 7 custom map addons:

  6. Stalingrad (updated)
  7. Time Gate (updated)

All of them were fully adapted for RealRTCW 2.2.

And maybe for a possible tweak, may I recommend a custom difficulty option? Such as setting higher ammo capacities or tougher ai?

Why is my game has Black border around small screen when in game? Cutscenes too. I have set native resolution, set to widescreen.. I tried everything. And one more issue. When i change to renderer2 game has huge memory leak, 100% uses all cores and crash. Version steam

1.What is your native resolution?
2.Can you provide in game screenshot?
3.Rend2 is experimental. Crashes are possible. Did you changed other rend2 specific cvars? Or you just switched to rend2 without changing anything?
4. Post your specs and if possible any crashlog.I will report this crashes to the iortcw devs.

1) Native is 1920x1080

3) Well i think Rend2 is not important. I only change without anything spec. cvars. But opengl is good. So i play with opengl :)
4) I don't know where is crashlog. I found nothing in root game directory. But i have high end machine. i7, 1060, 32gb ram etc...
I need only play with normal fullscreen not like this in screenshot. Thanks for advice.

Hey man, first thing you and your team did a fantastic job with this awesome mod! After I got tired of replaying RTCW a few years ago, this made me replay it once again. And it was worth it! The surroundings, objects and especially the character models have a visibally higher quality. The added ambient sounds are also appreciated, for example you can hear flowing water when you go near pipes.

I absolutely love the redone difficulty system, hard is actually hard, it took me 2 days to complete the game on I'm a Death Incarnate (I died a lot). The added and redone weapons make the game feel fresh, they're quite fun while the regular nazi soldiers are much more dangerous, even in the early levels. And the new weapon models look so nice and polished!

There are 2 major bugs.The first time I played the Assault base level, when I reached the place which prompts the Black guards to start landing, there where only parachutes without people under them. I went back to a quick save, they where there this time, but the action music didn't play this time. I had to exit and start the game again, then there where no problems. Another annoying bug is that at least in some maps if you go back with quick saves a few times, the current level music starts playing it's first second on loop (it happened in Chateau, Dig and Return to Castle Wolfenstein). Only exting game fixes this. A more minor bug is that you can hear the flamethrower guys and fire zombies from a extremely great distance.

As for aestetics, the most weapons have new SFX which I mostly dig, but I think that the Colt, Sten and Mauser sound better with their classic ones. Why don't the guards in the Rocket base and X-Labs have white-yellow uniforms anymore? It made these levels more distinct. And was it really necessary to make several generals look like Hitler in the Paderborn and Chateau levels (and please bring back dr. Merkwurdigliebe !!!) ? One Hitler easter egg would have been enough in my opinion. In the dam level, the white-blue mountains look too bright when compared to the rest of the surroundings, it feels kinda weird. And the Dark and Dig levels aren't as dark as before, in vanilla RTCW visibility was noticeably lower which made the experience spookier and more challenging.

I honestly think that the Mauser rifle should be nerfed, in higher difficulties it one-shoots the guards even from a far, in vanilla you needed 2 shots, you were able to one-shot only after you get Sniper scope. You should be given more ammo(include a Panzerfaust) and armor at the beginng of the End level, I found it imposible beating Heinrich without resorting to cheese.

And can you please include a Sten in Mission 4 ? In Vanilla you had it in these levels and personally it's one of my favourite weapons. You also don't get the double Colt pistols at the start of the Kugelstadt level.

Now I complained a lot, and I don't want to sound ungreatful. I appreciate your efforts to keep this game as much as up to date as possible! Playing Real RTCW was a joyfull experience. You've included a RTCW version of Wolf 3D in the credits, it looks really fun, I just started it. And you even updated other people's addons. I rate this mod 9/10 and if you fix the bugs it should be a 10!

Sharkloid, I'm glad that you enjoyed playing this remarkable mod. As one of the testers for it, I didn't experience the bug with the "Blackguards" in the "assault" level though, which is strange. I've noticed the 1 second loop bug with the music, but only on some custom maps, such as "A Night at the Opera".

Also, if you're having too much difficulty with defeating "Heinrich", then don't resort to cheats; instead, use the trick shown on this video: Youtube.com

Also, shame on you for becoming bored of "Rtcw"! This game has many addons, maps and mods for SP mode, which keep it fun to play. =D

Hey I can't play the mod, the ui is broken for the start screen. Everytime I start a new area, the mouse icon is stuck on the top left and can't be moved, this stops me from starting the mod.

well it's just stuck at the top left of the screen and moving the mouse does nothing, a screenshot wouldn't help and yes I have, since I see the new background instead of the vanilla background.

What is your native resolution?
Perhaps you should manually set your resolution through config file, located in the my documents folder. Look for the r_customheight and r_customwidth.
Also you can try to delete wolfconfig file to reset all graphics settings.

basically i want to do a completionist speedrun with this mod, i've already done a catacombs run on death incarnate. i really love the increased aim of the mauser rifle soldiers, and especially the ruthlessness of the elite guard. they are intense now, it's a great refresher.

I have a strange bug, when i starting new game it spawns me in the cutscene so i can run on the cutscene map and even kill cutscene character with kick, but cutscene dont plays, so i cant play the game.

It sounds like you didn't install the mod correctly. Try to re-install and remember to follow the installation instructions carefully.

HI,
I got workin sound in other games and programs, also tried to uninstall and do a fresh install of the mod. Anyone else that have reported this issue? Also tried to run in compatability mode with no sucess. Got the latest drives for my soundhardware.

i solved it, Was me using my bluetooth headset that made the sound go away, i connected via a cable and the it works flawless :)
