The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

um for some reason winrar says that "the archive is either in unkown format or damaged" and if I use normal windows extractor, it says that there are no files to extract :( I can see them in there but it will not let me extract. Guess I will try to redownload, but it took about 3hrs last time because gamefront is being slow

If you have problems with crashes ...
1. make sure you have the right patch for Sins
2. use the recommended graphics settings
3. delete the 'enabledmods' file in the mod section (where Maelstrom is installed)
i checked all this things and after 1.5-2h of playing I got this crash Imageshack.us ... can you tell me why ? i have right patch, I set the recommended graphics settings and i deleted this file but it doesn't work ;/

k the gas giant research doesn't work for the replicators u can research it but cannot acquire the gas giants thru colonization
There are two type of gas giants, one that can be colonized (after research) and one that can't be colonized. This is applicable to all races.

1) I know it's my opinion, but can you change the Norlamin Loyalist Titan model to Advent "Stealth Bomber" titan model in next release?
2) Will there be new fraction?
3) Can you made pirate have other capital ships other than mothership class capital ship, which include

~ assault battlecruiser class
~ support battlecruiser class
~ unique class
4) Can you made pirate have their own starbase and titan?
5) Is it possible that pirate be a plyable fraction? Through I know it's kind of strange that pirate have loyalist and rebel fraction...

1. Sorry, but I don't want to touch the original races models
2. The game can just fit 6 races ...
3. I am in the process of replacing all the pirate and militia models, including adding capitalships
4. The problem with the pirates is that the AI has difficulties taking them out ... they are too strong at home. I will be reducing their at home strengths. I will add a Dread but not a Titan. Starbase can only be added to the planets that start as pirate owned (i.e defined in the map) so I think they are not that interesting ... but
5. Let me upgrade the pirates first then consider. The factions don't have to be called loyalist or rebel
i know that you don't want to change, however the reason I think that Norlamin Loyalist titan should be Advent 'Stealth Bomber' titan model is because this make the Norlamin Loyalist have the 'peaceful' feeling, after all Norlamin are a peaceful unity race, giving them a 'Stealth Bomber' titan will give them a 'Guardian Angel' feeling. The current Norlamin Loyalist titan model can change to Advent Loyalist Dreadnaught.(Provided that you want to make different model of dreadnaught in each sub-fraction)
The reason I ask can Pirate be a playable fraction is because of pirate have their own challenge:
- without shield but with high hit points, this can another attack strategy challenge for players to play.
- maybe have their own research, possibly the peace treaty with rouge pirates(original pirates).
Hope you can consider this to make a better mods...=)

I want to see if the pirate models fit in Rebellion and how they look before considering making them a race.
Regarding the new models, the pictures you give a link to are models from HW2. We must be on the same wavelength, because I have already imported these models as 2 new capitalships for the pirates! The dreadnought will be the juggernaut from HW2. So the pirates and militia are models from HW2 ... a bit grungy looking because the textures are not as hi-res as Sins textures.

I enjoy very much playing the TEC Loyalists against your three(six) races, you and your partners did a great job.
Just one little question about the replicators. Are their ajustice frigates/vessels supposed to replicate so fast so that one can whitness the superiority of machines or are they just a bit overpowered? (I entered the system with a titan, dreads and around 60 heavy cruisers..thier numbers don't go down, on the contrary the augment x)I must be doing something wrong, right?
I played several campagnes against multiple enemies and every time I encounter them (both parties) on a later evolutionary stage they just kick *** no matter what difficulty I'm playing it.
I can't think of a suitable tactic to fight them off. Could you help me on this one :D? Sry if this is not the usual kind of question postet here :P
I am glad you are enjoying the mod.
Replicators once well developed can be a pain ... they have antimatter converts on there frigates. Try to delete their antimatter by planet jumping, also make sure you hit them with a larger fleet than there's or take out their research platforms

Yesss xD I assumed it was going to end up like this :P. I got extinct in two campaigns x) but in the current one suddenly the Vasari started to attack them with remarkable efficiency I really enjoyed seeingt thoes tinheads get ripped appart ;)..still they are putting up a hell of a fight despite having the majority of their ships going for the Vasari...another 32 worlds to conquer wish me luck, lets hope they're kept busy ;)

Yes, I forgot to mention the Vasari, I'm glad you did. One of their support cruisers prevents the use abilities ... they jam up the replication ability.

i have download this version of the mod, but when i click enable mods, the game stop responding, i have waited more than 5 minutes and nothing, redownloaded it several times and uninstalled anda installed the game several times and nothing seems to resolve.

1. Are you sure you have Rebellion patched to v1.1?
2. Delete the file "EnabledMods.txt" in the directory "Mods-Rebellion v1.1" where the mod is installed. I don't know why, but Rebellion sometimes becomes confused when a mod is run the first time.

you have the old version of Rebellion, the current patch is 1.1. My screen say v1.1.4480. Get the new patch
It's a pretty good mod. I especially like the unique play styles that the different races encourage. But I do have an issue.
The game crashes every so often. Most often when I try to enter Phased space and to attack the enemy. Just a moment ago, i tried to assault the homeworld of the Vasari AI; as i tried to enter PS to their homeworld the game crashed. This happens every time I try this action.
Is there going to be a patch, to fix issues such as this one?
I am not aware of any bugs that cause minidumps ... if I was aware of any I certainly would let people know and yes fit it.
What causes minidumps in large mods is the 2GB RAM limit of Sins itself. It is a 32bit program and has an addressable space of around 2GB. To reduce the RAM footprint of a mod ... reduce the graphics effects setting. If you have a 64 bit OS then you could try the 4GB patch that comes zipped with the mod. Let me know how you go ...
Just an update; I lowered the Graphic effects to "High" and the game has not yet crashed. Playing Noralin for about 3h now.
The high settings are the recommended settings ... see in the R4 release description sections and also in the notes that come with the mod

and, after i finished a few hour long game with your mod. i scrap my last comment.
your mod is beyond epic, the dreadnought system should replace the titan system completely, and something i'd definitely recommend adding more of in future edits/ editions of your sins mods.
buuuuut, there are 2 things about your dreadnaughtss.. Loyal replicators is waaay too OP with its horde fleet (i was playing vs unfair AI and slaughtering them even though they we're replicators too (just they build silly ships in high numbers)
and i'd enjoy a shorter cooldown, 2 hour game and i was just about to get my 3rd (500 AM short)

Replicators in general are still a bit powered. Regard more Dreadnoughts ... I'll think about it, though other have complained in the past about there being too many!

after 2,5 hours the game is starting to minidump all the time after 1-5 minutes...
i used the 4g patcher and everything seemed to be fine... but right now...
btw i love the new races.
