Last Alliance: TW is overhaul mod to Shogun 2. This mod base on stories from Tolkien's books, concretely on wars Dúnedain and Elves against Sauron at the end of the Second Age. This still WIP, but is avaiable alpha with playable Akallabêth campaign ^^

New update is out now! Download mod here:

Last Alliance: TW Alpha v0.4.3 - Heir of Geta

Not save compatible

If the download is slow, open the mirror server list and select a server from your region.

Recommended difficulty level: Hard

Suggested unit size: Ultra

This is full version, you don't need previous version to play, but you don't have to remove previous version (e.g. if you want finish your started campaign). Don't run files from different version together!

If you have problems with mod, check firstly Installation Guide, Known bugs list and FAQ, links below.

Mod should be stable, but sometimes isn't. So I suggest to saving game often (and don't replace saves of course).

Mae govannen!

I'm too exhausted to write an article about the new Update, but I don't want to delay the release (which, due to technical, health and other problems, has already been delayed too much). So have fun with the new culture - Krákafolk ❤️ Maybe I'll write this article in a few days xD A lot of other changes have also been made, so be sure to take a look at the Changelog.

As always, thanks to Luisa Aris and Jawor for their help with planning units, technologies and other elements of the new update ❤️ If you like the update and want to support the project check out Patreon and my Ko-fi profile ^^ - Any donation, even small, is appreciated ❤️

Oh, and in the last few days a patch for Shogun 2 was released, a patch that, for now, has broken more than it has improved. Among other things, the Mod Manager was removed. So check out the Installation Guide for an alternative way to run the mod until CA will fix it. Also, the game may be less stable than before (we encountered a bug causing random crashes when splitting armies, recruiting units/agents by the player - we have no idea if the fault is on our side or if something was broken with the game).

Update 11.07.23: CA implemented for Shogun 2 new Mod Manager! Now Shogun 2 use the same Mod Manager like Rome II and next titles what means easier way to sort mods load order. I updated Installation Guide for this new Mod Manager.

Sadly, for now, CA didn't fixed other problems which appears in game in the May patch. But you can run the mod via mod manager without problem and there shouldn't be problems with stability (at least in singleplayer mode).

Remember to remove user.script from AppData before use new Mod Manager!

Guys one question, please
What do you think if I'm a complete new player to the total war series and I didn't play any of the yet, should I try this mod ? or just start with the "base game" ?
Thank you.

Last Alliance have different economy, battle balance, etc. than base game, so however you would need learn both separately.
So, you can start with mod. If you want more peacefull gameplay to learn things you can play on normal and as e.g. Ered Luin or Cerenland who aren't so close to their enemies.

If you're new and here chances are you bought the game for this mod. I'd go straight to Middle Earth as the base game is simple enough to learn you don't need a tutorial just try doing things. Get some buildings and units, and check unit upkeep vs economy screen so you don't go in the red raising armies.
Try Principality of Vinyalonde as elves for a classic TW start.

Veteri's units are available only for Kingdom of Krakaland, cuz in our story it's new forces, just recently created by previous king of Krakaland.

I downloaded the mod with no problems and it loads and will let me do custom battles, but when I try to start a campaign it doesn't show any of the available factions.

Can you give me a hand?
