The current goal of the Expanded Galaxy Project is to expand upon both games by adding all planets not present in both games and vice-versa through a port of the first game to the second games engine.

The main project is still lagging behind the port a little bit, however the moment I finish my most recent playthroughs of both projects I will be working with the newly released KLE to layout and improve every level in the game as well as creating the new levels.

The port is actually approaching completion and I plan to record some footage for it in the near future.

Port Resumed

The latest versions are available via the Discord server for the page, but I will be getting them uploaded here shortly.

After solving the health duplication bug I decided I would continue working on the port albeit slowly.

Hopefully in-time I will be able to actually start adding content to the new areas in both games.

While I haven't had the time to fully play-test everything I believe most things should work now except for the swoop tracks which I am still working on, however it might be a little while before I have them fully working.

Also a quick reminder for players to speak to the Ithorian Swoop Mechanic to skip the Taris swoop race.

Hi, I'm also curious as to what this mod does. I have KOTOR 2 and not 1. If I downloaded say, the K2 main install, does that mean I get the K1 maps or is it to install k2 maps on k1? Just having trouble understanding what any of these mods do with a lack of description in each one.

The K2 Main Install is for users that only have K2 and it requires TSLRCM, M478EP and Coruscant. This mod adds the planets from K1 into K2 but currently there is no content on these worlds and there might not be any for some time to come.

As a warning : I have heard there are also a few bugs which could be problematic and I plan to issue a warning on the page at some point about it as well as issue a patch if and when possible.

To expand upon both games as much as possible, it also requires TSLRCM, M478EP and Coruscant Jedi Temple.

Provided I can get permission, I would like to eventually port all existing kotor mods that I think are worth having, as for things like this I might make it so that other people have to make these changes to save on work for myself. But maybe :)

This is awesome have you been working or plan on using anything from the K1CP and or K1R/ dare I say Brotherhood of Shadow - Solomons Revenge or other popular mods? Having KOTR 1 on a KOTR 2 engine would be beyond great. Hopefully, you get some help this would be one of the largest mods for KOTR to date.

I would like to in future, given I can get permission when it comes to K1CP and K1R, I believe with BoS:SR the Author cannot be contacted so I will probably just port it at some point, depending on what I make of it when I play it myself.

It's nearly done, I finished my first full playthrough today!

Hello m8, I do own both games but I've never played the 2nd game because I've never finished the first one. I had come pretty far but then I managed to delete my save on the old windows XP back in 2007-2008 - then the game would crash all the time on my new windows 7 that I've owned for a decade now.

Okay, so I got the second game as a birthday gift in 2007 on my 18th birthday but haven't opened it because I wanted to finish the first game before I play the second.

Last summer in 2020 I did spend a day installing the game with mods, and the game worked without CTD thanks to the new GOG version - the old CD still crashed.

So what is the difference between the engine in the 2nd game?

The engine itself is technically the same engine, but with changes made to it by Obsidian specifically for the second game.

Many of which could take me hours to properly highlight or explain, but in short I think it is much more stable than the first game and plays much nicer because of that, as well as that it has a few handy features built into it's dialog system that the first game does not.

On top of that there is a level cap of 50 instead of 20 as there is in the first game. Multiple save slots for characters, dual weapon sets and a bundle more things I probably forgot about.

But if you haven't finished either before, then I will forewarn you that this might not be the mod for you just yet! Because it is still in development and has a long way to go before it's anywhere near fully finished.
