Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.
We want to update our soldier and kit models in the next release so they look more like they did in Yom Kippur war.
We have here our new Egyptian Assault kit. Omer did a great job in researching, modeling and texturing the new kit. The soldier is wearing a special assault vest that allowed him to easily and comfortably carry his equipment. The vest also has a drinking container similar to what modern soldiers wear. This was something relatively new in 1973. The vest greatly helped the Egyptian soldiers crossing the canal in 1973.
We also want to create other specialized soldiers like airborne troops and special forces. These elite soldiers were heavily used by all sides during the Yom Kippur war to attack difficult or unique targets. These specialized troops will have unique uniforms, kits and weapons. We will show you more about these new specialized troops in the future.
