Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.
Today we show off another stationary weapon, the Hispano-Suiza 20mm cannon. This is actually a model of the Oerlikon version, which was licensed produced in many countries. All the various versions where very similar. The excellent model and texture were shared with us by Soung Yoon. He has a few other great models that he may share with us.
Firing a 20 mm caliber projectile, it delivered a useful load of explosive from a relatively light weapon. This made it an ideal anti-aircraft weapon for mounting on light vehicles, as well as a fighter aircraft gun.
We are just showing the actual gun and ammo drum here but we have many different ways we want to use it. We are working on static mounts as well as vehicle mounted versions. We will show you more of this weapon and it various configurations as we complete them.
Static mounts would be nice to see. It's quite unique to have 20mm stationary mounts (aside the 20mm Flakvierling from FH2). Not much mods has stationary 20mm cannons.
Thanks, I really like the stationary breda 20mm in FH2 also. That kinda gave me the idea. The 20mm was very popular with the IDF. They used it as a static mount, on ships and on APCs.
