This mod aims to replace or improve textures in game with new high resolution work while retaining the original feeling and color palette of the game. Characters in game will be given much higher variety of uniforms, equipment and decals which will allow for much deeper experience for those who want to revisit the game or play it for the first time after long time. The textures are redone using original ones as base whenever possible (most are still nice and have at least basic realism) to retain original design, but all textures are upscaled to twice (or more) of original resolution, sharpened, and have decals either redrawn, or replaced with as much reverence to realism as possible. In effect the skins are extra realistic, but also don't look out of place - everything is done as to not ruin the original scene background and color palette that has been developed specially for SPR and MoHAA.

Looks good enough for a low poly game like MOHAA. In time as you keep practicing you will be able to make more high poly models with proper textures.

Yeah for now I want to keep the vanilla models as they are and just improve textures as much as possible, so it keeps the continuity with original experience, but also to keep the mod mergable with other weapon mods like yours, so everyone can customise the game as they prefer.
After rest of textures is done maybe some further improvements with models will be possible to be made too as you say

It'd be cool to see an alternate skin with brown handguard and grip

It should be an easy edit, I can make some alternative skins for where it's possible so some alt variants can be chosen, with different furniture, varying metal finish etc so I'll try to do it in some time

Sweet, also would love light wood Lee Enfield (like MoH Frontline and Call of Duty 1).

Description

Alright guys, for that one I demand standing ovation, because holy shit was that model a pain in the ass to texture. It wasn't a surprise, since the vanilla model is very low poly and lacks many details, so everything on this weapon had to be done by hand on texture, which was very tedious process.

Unlike other textures, no vanilla part was left, everything had to be done from scratch. Some main parts were taken from real-life photos (bakelite handguard and grip, metal stock, mag housing and rear part of receiver), while all details were hand drawn. The receiver had to be made from new metal texture, with bolt cutout drawn on. After that, all the parts had to be linked, combined, and pasted, and the colors adjusted to fit one another. The result is worth it though, as despite it still being the poor vanilla model, that thing finally looks like the real MP40.
Later on I might add some more wear to that texture since the gun looks very clean, but honestly the current look is how the real-world MP40s looked, due to good quality metal finish and bakelite handguards, so well, need to see what will be better.

So all in all I am doubly happy with this skin, happy because it looks nice, and happy because I no longer have to work on it. See you in the next update!
