This mod aims to replace or improve textures in game with new high resolution work while retaining the original feeling and color palette of the game. Characters in game will be given much higher variety of uniforms, equipment and decals which will allow for much deeper experience for those who want to revisit the game or play it for the first time after long time. The textures are redone using original ones as base whenever possible (most are still nice and have at least basic realism) to retain original design, but all textures are upscaled to twice (or more) of original resolution, sharpened, and have decals either redrawn, or replaced with as much reverence to realism as possible. In effect the skins are extra realistic, but also don't look out of place - everything is done as to not ruin the original scene background and color palette that has been developed specially for SPR and MoHAA.
After a long time of preparations another part of mod is ready: this time it's weapons texture pack.
All weapon models available in game were retextured, either by heavy rework of source vanilla material or by creating completely new textures for them. All textures were made as to maximally improve graphics quality and to recreate the weapons as close to their real world counterparts as possible.
Texturing weapons took longest time. Since the game's models are typical for 2002, that is, quite low poly and with lots of corners cut, various important details (sights, ejection ports, manipulators, safeties, screws and bolts etc etc) must be all added manually on texture, instead of being modelled there in the first place. And of course, weapon textures require higher level of care and perfection, since those are models that in FPS games are visible most of the time, close to player's view, on enlarged models. Highest possible quality is needed for comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Let's look how the new work compares to original textures:
MP 40
Completely new texture with a lot of added details that were previously omitted. Note how much more similar to real world MP 40 the model becomes thanks to added details and readjusting colors. Areas previously only barely shaped to resemble the real MP are now properly drawn and brought out to life.
Thompson
Thompson doesn't have newly made texture, instead, the original one was remade and recolored, with parts and details of real-life M1A1 Thompson added: stampings of patent and serial number, and the famous "bullet logo" of Auto Ordnance on top of receiver (not visible here)
BAR
Real world BARs were renowned for very high quality and care with which they were manufactured. New texture was made which recreates the proper blued finish of receiver made of heavy block of metal - which redefines the model and gives it unique look typical for that weapon in WWII. Previously neglected parts were properly textured, including charging handle, sights, trigger housing; and some forgotten details were added - among them disassembly lever and selectors. On top of the receiver the manufacturer's stamping of serial number was added.
StG 44
The "Sturmgewehr" was the first rifle that was mass produced using technique of stamping, which sped up production immensely. This gives the StG 44 it's distinct look of crude, industrial machinery, with visible reliefs of stamping and parts assembly. All details and look of sheet metal stamping were recreated in entirely new texture.
All the new weapon textures were made by reference of their real world counterparts. Here's few examples so you can compare it yourself:

As always with the aim of this mod, the most important thing is to keep everything well connected and fitting to each other, creating a consistent and harmonious aesthetic. The textures are adjusted and prepared in such way to retain the color palette of the game environment - they don't stand out or conflict with the rest of the scenery.
For the rest of weapons showcase I invite you to the image gallery on mod page. That's it for now. Work is still in progress and we're not halting anything. The next patch will fix the bugs and inconsistencies reported by users, as well as adding previously unfinished textures (among them models for african SAS, french resistance and winter US coats, as well as finally implementing the script for variety of models in missions). Hope you like it, enjoy the game, and see you soon!

Is there a new update coming? By the way, the Bar model would look better with a bipod and also the Thompson model 1928A1
I have missing skin for german elite gestapo and tank commander their body is like black silver mold.
Must be a bug with base texture, maybe the .tga texture is missing. These models have leather trenchcoats and have special shaders enabled to simulate light reflections on leather and need .tga and .dds texture to work with it, I probably only added .dds texture there. Enable "Texture Compression" then the game uses higher-resolution .dds textures and with that it will work 100% (plus it's simply a setting you should use anyway as it gives you much better texture quality)
Turn on texture compression
Will there be a change in Italian Army skin. They look so painful when you look at them. It's basically a British Army and US Army reskin.
Yes, definitely the Italians will have proper models and realistic uniforms, in separate variants for Africa, Sicily and post-1943 mainland Italy (under German command).
As a fun fact, some time ago I discovered where the weird idea of portraying Italians as wearing British uniforms in this game came from. I saw an Osprey book on WWII Italian military, and in there were their uniforms, including one exactly like seen in game...
...but the devs were too historically ignorant to notice that the portrayed uniform is from Italian Co-Belligerent Army in 1944 - which were the Italian forces after the Italy's surrender in 8th September 1943, that fought on side of the allies, and were commanded and equipped by British - they wore just standard battledress with Italian Kingdom flag.
The names of MP characters in game are also taken straight from that book, so I am sure this was the source. The devs must have used this booklet as artwork material for units, but didn't know the history of WWII enough to catch that difference. And just like that, this is the story on how this absurd found it's way into the game;)
Just finished the game with this mod, really good work. Excited to see what you do for Spearhead and Breakthrough.
If I had to suggest anything, perhaps make eyeglasses available as a random cosmetic to all NPCs not just German officers. Just to enhance the variety even further.
Thank you, glad you liked it! About the glasses they have certain problem with lighting, sometimes there are problem with ambient lighting and the glasses become non-transparent and look very bad, for example in mission 5 I wanted to give medic 50/50 chance of spawning as model with glasses, but because of issue with ambient lighting it looked awful. I'll try to fool around with the texture and shader maybe something can be done
For now I was on vacation, and later on I will have hard year on university (I'll be doing master thesis) which will heavily limit my free time to use on modding, but hopefully there will be enough to keep working on expansions this year, at least on the basics of textures and models to keep showing something once in a while, and hopefully next year I'll be able to present at least a beta of Spearhead edition of the mod
Thanks Bro I really cant wait for Spearhead
It will be coming :)
