High resolution texture pack for Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2
The good news is that I've managed to finish the mod. The final size is around 2.5 gigabytes. It works well on my old laptop too, so that's another good thing. The download link will be available here:
There are some textures however that I left untouched, those freakin' sprites that I mentioned in the previous articles (for example: green blood splatter, Gith's head fx). If I replace them with bigger textures, the in-game sprite size increases with the image's size. Imagine a single blood splat from a mosquito that is bigger than your player character. I spent days trying to solve it. Found the file where I can modify the sprite/shader behavior, however nothing changes in the game at all when I test it out. The good thing is that only a few textures affected by this issue.
This game is pretty old, and there are some things you can tweak to get the best results.

Excellent work, I'm glad that many not ideal games are not forgotten, of course it's a pity for such a series of games.
I think this makes a tonne of textures better with the exception of Julie's hair, I think it actually reduces the visual qualities of the hair by removing the highlights. It's definition at the expense of readability.
other than that, great work!
I have to admit I forgot about that detail. :)
Tja Kompis!
Just want to say big thanks for a such a epic work.
I just went through downloading some oldies I played back in the days.
With the new textures its a blast playing through it. Nostalgia with a modern feeling. Love it.
Many thanks
Dennis
Hello Dennis!
Your welcome, I am really glad that you liked it! :)
hello this is a great project for a super obscure game ha though i was wondering if you could answer me two questions about the game itself and if the mod has any effect on these at least
no cross hair appears in game. i can't quite figure it out as to why. i'm using your mod and a widscreen mod.
when i launch the game it doesn't actually launch, but if i launch a second time it does. i just have to use task-manager to kill the "ghost" process that doesn't do anything. it didn't do this at first i swear only after applying the mods.
Hello Deadza
Make a copy of the fakk2.exe file, name it quake3.exe, maybe it helps with the startup problem.
There is no fixed crosshair that is always on the screen, some of the weapons have crosshair (Rocket Launcher for example) or an auto-targeting "ring" on the enemy (Uzi for example).
Sorry for the late reply.
i dont know how to install it. can anyone teach me how to do it? i follow the instructions but i cannot start the game its pk3 file thank you!
