I got the same thing, don't worry about PrtScn in HW2, use the screenshot key that's in the keyboard settings.

Yeah the screenshot key is Scroll Lock. Screenshots will show up in Homeworld2/Bin/Screenshots.

"It goes down when the ship enters combat and it comes back up when it feels the area is safe"

Shouldn't that supposed be the other way around?

No... the blast shield goes down to guard the bridge during combat, and then it comes back up when out of combat...

What I really should have said was "open" and "close."

Well it means Zero's gotten most of the new content done. Now it's just a case of balancing, bug fixing and tuning.

Great work, in the end, even if the ship isn't really similar to the concept i like it a lot.
Now we want to try it!

Ehi, can i ask a question?
Does this ship has oversized archer pods like Orthrus-DD or normal size?
Because the missiles on the sides seems standard, and also aren't they too few for a ship of this class?

The normal destroyer has 24 oversized, this has 30. Based on the new way of doing things, it's basically stream lining the whole modding process with basic background mesh and then more detailed overlay textures for size consistency much like in a real game. This includes Archer pods.

Besides, I always thought the idea of ships being laden to the brim with missiles was really stupid, especially since they were useless against the Covenant.

If i am not wrong on Orthrus they are a bit different from standard ones.
Here they just have a bigger storage of missiles but their external appearance is the same of standard archers, unlike Orthrus if i got it.
So you are going to keep them like the standard in order to have few different textures.

Yes exactly, fewer textures means faster game. If one texture is shared by all ships, it's not going to impact the game at all.

The Orthrus will have the same type of Archers, too.

Nice, nice new content.

Just musing here, but it'd be cool if someone combined STC and HHF to create a crossover.

Hey, that would be really interesting, but I don't think HW2 would be able to handle it personally. :P

You might make the game engine explode... as well as some PCs

Anything's possible, but it would certainly be a "Franchise vs franchise" war and a half, people would certainly disagree with some of the balancing :P

If you wanted to make it really realistic, then the Federation would get slaughtered. I mean, we already know what happens when shields tuned against energy weapons gets hit by MAC rounds.

SCIENCE HAPPENS!
Also death.

Not to start one of these debates, but yes a MAC round would probably destroy anything from Star Trek just from the sheer force of the kinetic energy from the MAC round impacting the shields. Plus, in Star Trek, shields act realistically where the force is distributed inside the field as well and the ship takes damage even when the shields are up.

Well, it also depends on the type of shields. In Halo, the shields don't sit on the ship directly but are actually around the ship at roughly half a metre. In Star Trek, the shield kind of coats the ship like a skin. Mainly protecting against energy blasts and thermal damage but kinetic force goes through.

Description

Showcasing the new Thanatos-class Heavy Destroyer.

This beast of a ship is capable of taking far more damage due to it's more sleek and angular shape being able to deflect and absorb incoming damage as opposed to the aged Orthrus-class Destroyer. It's compact, durable, made to pack a punch and look menacing at the same time. In the second picture, the blast shield is down. It goes down when the ship enters combat and it comes back up when it feels the area is safe.

Also in this update, you should notice that the barrel of the single naval gun at the front is a different color from the standard yellow. That is because turrets now have team and stripe colors as well, to better signify what belongs to who.

The last picture in this dump is of the new death effects, courtesy of Stargazer from the really awesome Star Trek: Continuum mod. Really go check it out, even if you aren't a fan of Star Trek because their mod is super amazing and will blow you away with what it can do.
