Gen Ost: The Fall of Berlin ist eine Modifikation zu Battlefield 2. Das Thema bildet ein alternativer Ausgang der Ereignisse um den 9. November 1989. Die Mod selbst basiert frei auf der Dokumetation "Der dritte Weltkrieg" des ZDF von 1998, welche eine denkbare Ereigniskette, die 1989 statt zum friedlichen Ende des Sozialismus zur atomaren Vernichtung hätte führen können, beschreibt. GenO verfolgt dem gleichen Ablauf die in der Doku beschrieben mit dem Überfall von Osttruppen auf Schleswig-Holstein Anfang Februar bis zur Befreiung West-Berlin durch die Nato Ende März 1990. Als Inhalt werden sowohl die angeführten Schlachten der Doku sowie eingene Szenarien enthalten sein, welche detaillierter auf den Angriff der Osttruppen und Rückeroberungen der Nato eingehen. Erhalten werden alle an diesem Konflikt beteiligten Parteien sein wie auf seiten der Nato Westdeutschland (BRD) , USA, UK und weitere Verbündete sowie Russland und Ostdeutschland (DDR) auf seiten des Warschauer Paktes.
