The 2011 release renamed to: G STRING BETA. The Dec. 19 2011 release is now referred to as a "Beta" because the project is now a standalone retail game on Steam.
In 2013 this was a privately tested version of the G-String project. Copyrighted music and old intro has been removed. YouTube videos CAN be made of this release without altering any of the files. Playing this will NOT SPOIL the final release as this was made before the project was overhauled.
G STRING - DAY ONE
This is NOT the final release and it is NOT indicative of how the final release will look/play. This is just a slightly more polished version of the BETA that includes a few extra concepts such as the air refinery and the spaceport. If you want to see where all this started check out the original 2011 release.
Extract G_String_Day_One.rar to your steam\steamapps\sourcemods folder and restart Steam. It will NOT overwrite the G String BETA or the upcoming final "G String" release. It will extract into a new folder called "GstringV2".
G STRING - DAY ONE FEATURES
⦁ Some new post processing shaders.
⦁ Early new menu design.
⦁ Lens flares.
⦁ Multiple overlays.
⦁ You can toggle the cinematic bars and grain/custom FX.
⦁ Rudimentary subtitles.
⦁ A few next textures and maps- (40 maps total.)
⦁ Beta maps polished until the red light district fights- (soon after the crater).
⦁ Early versions of the Murdock Air Refinery and Kennedy Spaceport.
⦁ A few new characters added like Riley Verge.
⦁ A few new sound/dialog/music files.
At this point I just planned to update the BETA with the existing assets. After I got feedback from this release the decision to overhaul the entire project was made. This means:
⦁ No self awareness model.
⦁ No gibbing.
⦁ No DOF.
⦁ No special key for the pyrokinesis (works same as BETA).
⦁ No new HUD.
⦁ No night-vision.
⦁ Interplanetary Trade Center twin towers are seen but not explored.
⦁ No space fights.
⦁ No new props.
⦁ No particles.
⦁ No final story.
G STRING - DAY ONE KNOWN BUGS
⦁ The crosshair disappears over some NPCs in Easy Mode.
⦁ Mod might crash during the transition from "the_criminal_2.bsp" to "the_crossing_part1.bsp".
⦁ Sometimes the fireball sprites don't look right underwater.
⦁ Selfillum "hologram" textures glow too bright when illuminated by flashlight.
⦁ Fireball casting related crashes might happen only on source sdk 2007. If you have those issues make sure you use source sdk 2006 (steamID 215) in the gameinfo.
