Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.
The Blackholes from the Stellar Phenomena DLC were a must have for a Sci-fi game, but they ended up being more annoying than cool since they only did damage over time. The next version of Enhanced 4X will make them a bit less annoying but much more terrifying at the same time!
it pulls the ships back? but wouldn't that make it impossible to get past that area, or trade through it?
Well, realistically speaking, you would just have to avoid sending your ships through that gravity well. As for those trade ships that can't be interacted with, they'll meet an unfortunate end once they unwittingly phase into it, you'll just have to accept those as losses.
yea, but what if this is in a string of phase lanes that you can't get around? could be a problem, especially if you find one early game
Ships that are in the gravity well have a low chance to be sucked in. The idea is that ships can navigate the black hole, but if there is a single mistake with navigation or engines you'll get sucked into it. You won't lose entire fleets to it like the AI would sometimes do in Vanilla, but it might occasionally cause you to lose an important ship if you have to go through it.
you are a genius .D
Awesome! Titan for the pirate faction please? that would be plunderrrr,
