Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

I've been hard-pressed to find info about the criteria for placing another one, specifically for the novalith (though i assume it applies for all). Is it every third planet in any chain of planets? Is it every 5 planets I get a super weapon? Does this mod change it (and if so, what's the difference between Vanilla and here so i can finally know x_x)

The superweapon limit is from the base game in Rebellion. You can build 1 superweapon for every 4 planets you have. TEC get a tech that makes it 2 superweapon ever 4 planets IIRC. Note some captureable ancient structures in the mod count as super weapons so the AI will use them. You can abandon these superweapons if you do not have the artifacts needed to use them.

Ah, thank you kindly! I was wondering why I couldn't place any more Novaliths, and now that I know the captures count, I'm going to un-control them since I don't have the artifacts.

On the subject of artifacts, is it common to have multiples of the same show up in a game? I currently have three duplicates of three different artifacts...

Yes. The game places artifacts completely randomly, regardless if an artifact is already on the map or not. It is also possible to have more than 12 (vanilla)/20(E4X) artifacts in a single game, so there would have to be some duplicates in this situation.

E4X does increase the frequency artifacts spawn, but there's nothing that can really be done in a mod to prevent duplicates.

I've been getting re-addicted to sins thanks to your mod (and the sub-mods) and this has been some of the most fun I've had since I discovered STA3!

If there's anything I can do to help you guys with, I'd be happy to assist. I'm no coder, but I do play a lot.
