Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

Hi,

I am currently playing a six player FFA game on the pre-made Maelstrom map with all DLC enabled and resource speed set to slow. I picked Advent Orthodox myself, while each of the five Hard AI players uses one of the remaining subfactions available so that all subfactions are present in the game.

The game was running perfectly on max settings until I had finished construction on my Advent Orthodox Titan and sent it into battle. One AI has already been eliminated, thus only four others remain. But every time my Titan engages in a bigger battle, massive stuttering occurs, basically freezing, but not crashing the game for up to two or three minutes.

I am using the Steam version of SoaSE: Rebellion 1.9 and have already tried verifying my game data via Steam to no avail. Here are the three mods I use:

TXT
Version 0
enabledModNameCount 3
enabledModName "E4X Enhanced AI"
enabledModName "Enhanced 4X Mod 1.83"
enabledModName "Trivial Features" (Zero Checksum version without the String tweaks)

The Zero Checksum version of Trivial Features is not required to load up the savegames, nor should it be in any way related to the gameplay itself. I've uploaded all savegames to my Dropbox and linked them below. 'Advent Orthodox 6.savereb' basically can't be played anymore because the save was created in the midst of an Advent Orthodox fight with their Titan present.

Single Player Autosaves

Single Player Manual Saves

I will now try to go back to an earlier savegame where my Titan can still be scuttled (if that is even possible) and report back about my findings.

Sorry for the double post. So the Advent Loyalist Titan itself was definitely not the cause for the stuttering issues. At first I suspected 'Suppression Aura' to be the culprit, but that turned out to be false. Instead, I noticed that there was a very high correlation between the Titan's 'Subjugation' ability and the stuttering problems. During large battles, whenever 'Subjugation' was on autocast or was used by me manually, noticeable stuttering occurred.

As soon as I had disabled the autocast feature for 'Subjugation', I could continue playing without any further issues.

This is fascinating. My cursory research seemed to point to the Orthodox titan as a possible culprit, but I had ruled it out since only its Repossession ability is really modified by the mod, and that is rarely used. Sounds like we have something very strange going on here...

Thanks for the heads up and documentation! :-)

So I tested this and even destroyed your titan during the last manual save. However the stuttering still occurred even with the Coronata titan destroyed.
