Cruel Winter is a conversion modpack that uses CoTZ as base, venture into a Zone where the time doesn't seem to change.
Cruel Winter: A CoTZ modpack
Cruel Winter is a conversion modpack that tries to resemble hardcore mods, but on a Frozen Zone, major changes on the gameplay and the core have been changed. Recommended for experienced Stalkers, maybe the not so experienced ones too.
This requires a new game and a new CoTZ folder!
This is a beta! expect errors, crashes, or exploits, if you find some of these, you can send me a message or comment about it and i might change it in the next builds! f.e: the energy drinks are too op!
Don't read the breakthroughs if you want to keep the experience fresh!
Changes:
1.- The Zone
Now the Zone is froze in time, and temperature, venture into a Zone where the conditions are harsher, the resources are scarce, and the blowouts seem to slip down of the normal military radars.
Breakthrough:
The zone is full of snow now, also, the blowouts now don't appear as tasks an there are no siren warnings for them, make sure to carry some anabiotics with you
2.- Traders
After the 2006 incident, traders seem to have loss a lot of their contacts, now, prices exploded, the exported food seems to be almost extinct, only the renowned bars or traders have them, but the local cuisine is still there. Also, the traders seem to still have contacts to guide you to places, for a fee of course. And they pay better for their dirty work. And the monolith and Mercenaries seem to have a contact for those rare guns on the zone.
Breakthrough:
Traders have been changed a lot, the economy has been degraded, now Dushman and Cleric rarely sell the guns of the Nimble arsenal, food has been made more expensive and every trader sells mutant food, the immersive fast travel addon was added and the tasks rewards from the traders have been increased.
3.- Stalkers
After the second incident, stalkers seemed to lost interest on the exclusion Zone, mainly for the harsher weather, now the stalkers that are in the Zone seem to think more on their expeditions, therefore, they travel lighter and with less things, but, maybe you can find some information of their stashes on one of their pockets, maybe even some coins. The prices of the Zone aren't as cheap as the old days, now the only Stalkers with good guns usually are mercenaries, monoliths, or experienced stalkers, also, they will pay you more for their dirty work, or even some basic tasks. Don't forget about the patches! traders pay good for them.
Breakthrough:
Item values on the stalkers inventories has been degraded a lot, also, the guns they use have been degraded too, nonetheless, they now have stash locations and money when you loot them. Tasks rewards have been greatly increased too. Patches price has been increased by four.
4.- Consumables
You will value every medkit you'll find or buy, also, the traders seem to sell stronger drugs, and in bigger packages, for a bigger price of course, and with more side effects. The food that the traders sell usually is local cuisine, so you will have to adapt to it, also, at least something good happened in the Zone, Vodka bottles are bigger, and stronger, so save a bread for after.
Breakthrough:
Consumables have been heavily modified, now the food has been changed to make the player to eat more of the local cuisine, and the drugs values have been changed to what the photos specify, for example: a vinca includes ten tablets. The hercules and energy drinks effects have been buffed. The medkits now have two uses, normal ones cure slower, and some drugs give side effects like dizziness or hunger.
5.- Artefacts:
Now artefacts are something of the past, they are cheaper and some of them even worse or better than before, nonetheless, the good ones still have a nice price, and it seems that the eggheads are running low on their detectors, therefore, the prices of these have increased.
Breakthrough:
Artefact prices have been cut on half or 2/3, also, the radiation artifacts have been nerfed, and the carry weight ones buffed, their weight has been changed from .5kg to 1kg, and the detectors prices have been increased.

Minor Changes:
- Revamped the falling damage system, now falling damage should be smarter
- Changed max. weight from 50 to 45, but made it less impactful for the energy
- Eliminated all the loading screen, for now
- Drawn all the 32 maps of CoC to make it look like snow.
- HUD and GUI modified to make the game look more dynamic and "cooler" (pun intended)
- Lootmoney values have been modified to give you more money
- Added two new fast travel characters, Hermann on Jupiter and Crab on the Skadovsk
Known issues:
- Stalkers seem to give exaggerated things for quests sometimes
- Yantar and Truck cemetery loading maps are still on the game
- Red forest seems to lag sometimes
- there seems to be a missing texture in the west side of the swamps
- Grenades seem to crash the game half of the time they're used.

No, it is one from winter mod for 1.3.2 and later and winter mod fixes & enhancements v3, mainly because the textures of YAWM are 4k and my potato would explode on the start, also, i can't test the snowfall script because my pc can't run it :(
As a canadian entering winter right now... this is not only refreshing to play but I'm impressed at the details such as the walking sounds and frost... sound in general is great as far as I've been so far.
Just a detail that bugs me though... the bottom of the water is snow. Just a detail that (if not crazy difficult to change) would add so much realism. To be walking on snow and then see earth under the water (as would be normal) would be a really immersive detail.

Lol thanks for giving your review, sadly it isn't an easy fix, the textures under the water are the same outside of it so i would have to edit the whole way maps use the textures, that means SDK, so no easy repair, maybe changing the water shaders so the bottom can't be seen.

How can I disable mask overlay? I dont see it in HUD. Mask film grains give me headache, and if i dont wear a helmetq, a head shot is instant KO
Also, how can i change 3rd night vision? 2nd and 3rd looking same. I thought 3rd is grey white color
Maybe check users.ltx, you might find something there, and for the NV, i don't really know, i would have to check it one of these days

It is compatible, tested (not much YET) but tested. I mean like i got into game and walked around a bit and snow the nice snow and everything.
Something is wrong on my pc i think.. so when the blood loss thing is showing its on the whole screen? i tried using 720p resolution aswell and nothing changed?
EDIT : i installed BHS and it worked, maybe something off with the hud mod on my pc
