Tolo Sí!

Welcome to Third Age Total War: Divide and Conquer submod! As the current writer on the DaC Council, I am proud to present you with some long anticipated information on the new factions of DaC and the major changes to the vanilla factions. This bio is of the Northern Dúnedain and the trials of those beleaguered people. All campaigns start in the Third Age 2980, 39 years before the events of The War of the Ring.

Northern Dúnedain:
Faction Leader: Chieftain Aragorn II
Faction Capital: Fennas Drúnin
Best Cavalry Unit: Arthedain Royal Guard
Best Infantry Unit: Arthedain Swordmasters
Best Archer Unit: Dúnedain Rangers

So it begins...

Proud sons of Arthedain prepare to hold the line.

Gameplay Bio: The Northern Dúnedain are a wandering people, never having settled properly since the fall of their once great kingdom. They roam the lands of Eriador protecting simple, innocent folk from the untold horrors that emanate from the mountains and would see all of Eriador burning. However, since the Remnants of Angmar are threatening the Bree-land in great numbers once more, the Northern Dúnedain have taken up residence in Amon Sul and have built a more permanent camp in the depths of the Angle. They call upon the brave few of their homeland to defend the illusiory peace with all they have but help for the Dúnedain is never far away.

The Northern Dúnedain can call upon perhaps the most diverse roster of willing warriors. In their homeland, many brave Dúnedain will heed the call to defend peace and freedom, taking up their mighty two-handed swords, their stout shields and keen blades or marching to war with the great bows of an age long past. These faithful few make up the core of the Dúnedain war machine but in the south of Eriador, the remnants of Cardolan have not forgotten their mighty heritage and they march to war in stealthy archer battalions, solid spear battalions and as swift cavalry, relying messages between Dúnedain commanders. From the north come the Dúnedain's greatest strength; proud sons of Arthedain who, using the expertise of the Dwarves of Ered Luin, have outfitted themselves in the armour of their ancestors. Gleaming silver they thunder across the plains of Eriador on the back of their huge barded horses and with lance and sword by their side, there are no Orcs that can resist the charge of the Arthedain Royal Guard! When dismounted they gather up their swords and wield them with such skill and brutality that the Bree-landers have come to call them the Arthedain Swordmasters. Lastly, using a lesser but lighter armour, those who choose not to ride the heavy horses of the Royal Guard join the ranks of the Arthedain Knights, a swifter but equally deadly cavalry battalion calling on the herds of wild horses found in the now abandoned Arthedain region. All of this skill and majesty comes at a price. The lands of Eriador are bare and the Dúnedain are so few in number that their recruitment is achingly restricted. However, help is at hand, thanks to their widely travelled Chieftain and the ties he has made across Middle-earth, many other races are willing to fight for the Dúnedain should they find themselves in new homelands! From the Vale of Anduin to Dale and down through Rhovanion to Rohan, across to Gondor and Dol Amroth and from the Bree-land, the Shire and of course Imladris, all have pledged to help the waning Dúnedain. Under a single banner but unified as one great force of freedom on the plains of Middle-earth, the Dúnedain and their allies come, to seek vengeance, to seek peace and to seek the lasting freedom of all the Free Peoples! Tol Acharn! Tol Acharn!
The Dúnedain attempt to hold the Barrow.

The Dúnedain cavalry clash with the men of Rhudaur.

Gameplay Tips: As the Dúnedain, it is very advisable to capture and re-enforce Arthedain as soon as possible, once this is training your top end elites, then hit Angmar as hard and fast as possible for if they gather momentum then the peaceful Bree-land will be levelled. Always remember to keep an eye to the South as the Dunlendings are far from allies and the Clans of Enedwaith have a burning hatred toward all Dúnedain.

Can I find anywhere an overview for the questline with aragorn? I was searching for Gollum and then got the notice to go back to Bree and tell Gandalf he isn´t there. But now nothing happens?!

You basically recruit some units of good factions as mercenaries. Though only from their own lands. For example to recruit Bree units, your general have to go to Bree.
